Default Looking for right holster for my .45 Shield

Hello people, I just purchased a new .45 Shield, now comes the task of finding a suitable holster for conceal and carry. I bought a rather inexpensive one yesterday at a local gun store, a IWB Tagus, made in Florida. Problem is, I have what you might say is a rather robust waistline thus my attempts at trying this were unsuccessful so am going to return it, hence my question, what might your suggestions be? I was thinking that a shoulder holster might be ideal, given that it would not interfere with driving my vehicle or riding my bike. What kind of rig would you suggest? If I were to go this route I would want it to be one of duability and quality. Thanks for your time, your patience and your most valuable insights.

I'm not a fan of shoulder holsters. First, unless you wear a jacket year round, you might still find yourself needing other options. Also, drawing from a shoulder holster pretty much means you are going to possibly be sweeping people and things you really don't want to be sweeping, maybe even parts of your own body.

I'm not a huge guy but do keep a little extra weight around my mid section for survival purposes. I tried just about every holster you can imagine when I first started carrying. For me, the one that works best and is the most comfortable is a Stealthgear Onyx mini. Worn strong side at about the 3:30 to 4:00 position. I do unholster the gun when in the vehicle for the sake of comfort and not wanting to ruin the seat in my vehicle.

Not sure if any of that helps.

I use a DeSantis 127 5E leather IWB at the 4-5 o`clock position.
Works pretty well, and was only around $25. Also use a "standard" Remora quite often. Very comfortable, but I can`t re-holster without undoing my belt (which is really not much of an issue). I am also of the "back-up fuel storage unit" build.

This question gets asked numerous times and there is no easy answer due to the fact that the holster you need will depend on a number of different items.

How do you wish to carry ? IWB, OWB
Where do you wish to carry ? Pocket, Strong side 3 to 5:00 oclock, small of back, appendix, crossdraw, ankle, shoulder?

What kind of holster do you want? Leather, full kydex, leather/kydex combo.

There are tons of nice holster that fit all the above carry positions and you really have to find what is right for your individual style and preference and we really can't answer that for you now can we?

First thing to purchase would be a spare chest of drawers to hold all the ones you purchase and try that don't quite fit you the way you thought they would....Yes we all have a spare storage area for unused and unwanted holsters that did not work for us......
