Default New CS40 magazine

I was digging thru a dusty box at a LGS and found a set of used J frame grips for $10. SWEET!!! Been looking for a set.

Also in the box was a S&W magazine, in original packaging, for the CS40. Asking price was $15. They also had a used S&W 4516-1 mag for $5. 3-4 sets of aftermarket 39 grip panels in fancy wood for $5 a set.

I neither have, nor will I probably ever buy, any of those guns.

The question is... Should I be buying cheap things like these to flip for a profit or is it wasted effort? If the CS40 mag could be sold for $40 without too much effort, that seems to make sense.
Not looking to take advantage of anyone, but if the shop wants to sell these things cheap just to move 'em out, I could oblige.

Opinions are appreciated.

I would buy the CS40 and 4516 mags from you for more than you bought them for and pay shipping. Some of my best finds have been from digging through mag and grip bins at LGS.

I would gladly pay 25 bucks for the CS40 mag and 20 for the 4516 mag.

I'd either end up with guns for those,
or do occasional flips on here, for members
that have been around for awhile and need
the odd spare part
Or perhaps trading them for parts I did need!!

I would snag them, and use as trading stock, or put them up for sale here. Getting them into the hands of those that need them is a good thing.

I've got some rare car parts that are for trade only. Sometimes someone will part with something in a trade only. A cash offer isn't going to do it. It isn't the $ amount.

I am running into a troubling new attitude around here wherein the dealers that have the few remaining rare and discontinued S&W magazines (OEMs, including pre-bans) don't want to sell them outright any longer. It's kind of a weird reversal from what I've seen in past years when the dealers couldn't get rid of the old magazines fast enough. Now, they see them as critical, irreplaceable parts that should command a high premium or, preferably, be retained by them for future opportunities.

Bottom line: Get what you can when you can folks. If you can't use them right now, you may need them in the future... for your own new acquisitions or for trading stock.

I think that in some cases, that's already happening. Have you priced out any major parts for a 3rd Gen lately? Certain parts are selling for more than whole guns used to sell for just a few years back.

And as I told my good wife just the other day, please get help selling my horde of "pre-ban" magazines after I'm in the ground. Here in MA, some are selling for up to 10 times what they are worth out in Free America.

I'll be rolling over in my grave if she gives them away for chump change!
