Default Scored a NIB 6904

Went to pick up a Beretta Centurion from the gunsmith on the other side of the Burgh...... 2 miles from where I grew up. Looking around as I only get there a few times a year...... it's against "Burgh Rules" to cross more than one river on any given day for the purposes of a commercial transaction.

Well that ...LOL.... and it seems like one of the Dang tunnels are closed for construction almost ever weekend........backing traffic up at the other......

Anyway while they're retrieving my Beretta..... I check out the used gun case........... what to my wondering eyes did appear ....... two, yes two "new looking" 6904s........one transition and one later gun w/ round trigger guard and Novak sight...... Both with their stuff...............both marked at $325.

Backstory;(buy the gun not the story) a local collector is older (80s), in poor health; hasn't shot in years, and doing home repairs ........ as he needs cash he's selling off guns from his collection..... so far about 30..... both guns said to be (and appear to be) unfired since leaving the factory.

I did an impulse buy on the later gun (round trigger guard and Novak sight) with box, docs and extra magazine.......just so I could write a post that TTSH would see and read!!!!!!!

Did't have time to do the paperwork....... son's Soccer game....so will have to make another 4 river crossings later this week.

LOL; Did I do good???

While I have a couple of 6906s and PC Shorty-9s ..... these are the first "nice" 6904s I've seen for sale in .......I'd guess, in over 20 years????? Most 6904s were Police guns and got pretty banged up .... and would never past the "TTSH (beauty) Test" !!!!!

I posted an FYI on the other gun in another thread..... if the Mods take it down PM me for the shop's information.

Poor old TTSH sure does take an awful lot of razzing over his often-voiced preference for "used-but-not-abused" over "used-and-abused" in the 3rd Gen realm. But this sounds like a great gun and a great opportunity so what's to question about it??? What's not to like?

I would have done the very same thing. I'm always on the lookout for really clean 3rd Gens... even in situations where I already have one of the same kind. There is always room for upgrading!

In fact, I'm looking at a possible "upgrade" situation right now... but the price isn't quite right and I may have blown the negotiation already. Sometimes I think I need a better set of used gun negotiating skills. Any volunteers to train me?

You picked the one I might have been interested in, but like you, too much stuff. I should be going the other direction!

The architect lady removed the front porch. My good wife made her put it back. But then we learned our first lesson about dealing with architects: NEVER try to overrule a determined architect lady.

It all went downhill from there. I bowed out. I had to. My nerves and blood pressure couldn't take it. The good wife took over and finished the job but it came out so far from what we wanted going in and what we can afford that we may have to start all over again from scratch next month with a new architect.

I figure we'll get it built and move in right about the time I run out of those few remaining "good years" per the infamous Bam Formula.

Back on topic: I could go for a really nice 6904, ANIB with "pre-ban" mags, of course!

Got a chance to go pick it up yesterday afternoon...... Serial # TZFxxxx... looks like 1993....... some 69xx luck this past 6 months..............

What to do......................don't see the 69xx family having "collectors" value jumps ...... at least not in my lifetime .......................so

Add this one to TEOTWAWKI stash....... with the 6906 I picked up last winter..... for $260 (no box/one mag)......... cost averaging at $292.50 per gun. Sorry TTSH

Build 2 .......two tone guns? My PC Shorty-9s are blue over silver.......

Stash them for College graduation gifts for the boys?

I've been telling myself ...... no more guns...... no real need....... but seems I keep tripping over deals to good to pass on IMO.

Did sell a pre-17 to Old_Cop..... but only cus it was his birth-year gun..... then replaced it with a pre 18 (57) within 4 hours................

By the way the other 6904 ( see other thread) was still there ..... though some guy was fondling it while I was there.......

Man, you're living my life in a parallel universe. It certainly is a buyer's market right now in the 'Burgh, huh? There has to be an old folks' home we can stash our Nor'eastern friend in for a few days while we show him around town.

Congrats on the get.

I was in there once. Big store- they needed to fill it up a little when I was there, but nice stuff.

Maybe we can talk him into prettying up my Mk II Hi-Power? I don't have a cache of Berettas like some guys here!

Oh Bam. Just admit you are lazy... just like me.

My excuse is even better. I am terrible at staging and taking photos for all but the smallest parts and items which I can usually do on the "still visible" 1 square foot of kitchen table (the part not 210% covered with my good wife's assorted miscellaneous kitchen "stuff"! I even bought a light box kit for photographing my guns but the two lights that came with it are, by themselves, useless.

The funny thing is that I'm at a point where I need good detailed, hi-res photos of all my guns for the insurance I carry... not just showing the gun but the condition of the gun as well. Big project ahead...
