The Latest Edition To My 41 Collection
Some pics of my latest 41 addition to my collection. It's the 7 inch barrel model with the muzzle brake. The serial number is in the 17xxx range.

You need a set of Olympic Weights to set that off. Very nice!

I also noticed it has the original grips on it as well. She's a real beauty for sure. Probably produced around late 1958-59.

Wouldn't it have a 7.375-inch barrel?
Nice gun.

Very nice model 41, I have one from the early 70's (I think) and it is a fun pistol to shoot.

If your pistol has a 7" barrel those were not produced until 1978. If it does not have an "A" prefix in the serial number then it is a pre 1970 model. The "A" first appeared in 1970.

Nice gun.

Very good point. When I measure the barrel from the point the brake attaches to the slide, it measure 7 inches. However, when I remove the brake and measure from the actual end of the barrel it's 7-3/8 inches long. I also measured one of my 46s and it's 7 inches long... I obviously got the two mixed up with regards to the barrel lengths.

17XXX late 58 - early 59. Suggest you pull the brake and save it as they are hard to clean and damage easily. Find a false muzzle cap and install it. Suggest you stay with std velocity ammo - CCI/federal

Only the long barrelled original M41's were 73/8" long as the 46's were always just 7". I agree with Thom about getting a false nose for shooting and keep the muzzle brake off of the gun. They are a PIA to clean and can be damaged too easily as well.

You hit the nail on the head Aussie. The other problem is almost all sellers won't ship outside of the US. I saw one on Ebay recently but refused to sell and ship outside USA.

Nice 41 by the way........one day I may show off my collection make you guys drool
Note that it has the trigger finger cutout, and the longer muzzle brake. The brake is correct for your gun, too many times I see early guns with the wrong brake.
Can I ask which mags came with it, should be the early one piece any luck you got a two piece one.
If you need 41 parts PM me im sure there is no problem from Australia to Canada. I have most parts, I even have spare 41-1 mags and parts.....

In Canada we can receive from any Country in the world any parts for most Hunting rifles and even most target guns also including handguns. The only stipulation is that they are not fully automatic weapons. Thats why its legal for some people to be able to ship to us via Canada Post only. No FedEX or Purilator at all across Canada for us.

Thanks for the complement Aussie. However, there was a couple of issues with the 41 when I got it. First of all it came with later issued grips, as pointed out to me by Tom Beckwith. Also, the muzzle brake was packed with hardened lead. I had to use a chisel, punch and my dremel tool to get most of the lead out of the brake without doing any damage.
