Default MODEL 46 GRIPS

In what serial number range did S&W start to use dark maroon plastic grips on their Model 46 firearms? Have bade eye sight and when I looked at the grips in the sun light, saw that they were deep maroon red, not green. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Many Thanks.

I don't recall ever seeing green plastic. At some point late in Model 46 production the factory exhausted it's stock of the red nylon stocks they had been using on the Model 46 and used walnut Model 41 stocks.

Mine came with the red nylon stocks originally but wear a set of Cherrywood S&W stocks now. The Red Nylon ones are worth more then the Walnut ones in the market place to-day. Myself I just didn't like the feel of them as I am wood stock person all the way. A Old Hippie as well

If they are really Green we would love to see pics of them as the vast majority of them were made of the Red Nylon.

The OP sent me a pic. They are the standard red nylon variety.
