Default Model 669 will not cycle

My 669 will not eject and re-chamber a new round after firing, I have to manually pull the slid back to eject and re-chamber. Any suggestions?

Do you mean it's not picking up a new round off the magazine?

The more details you can provide will be helpful.

Any pictures of the stoppage would be good. (sometimes it helps to see how the cartridge hangs up).

Type of ammo, condition and age of gun would help too.

Your new to the forum, welcome. Are you new to guns or have some experience?

Did it run for you before? Has something changed? Has it been in a drawer for years?

Inquiring minds want to know...

The magazines probably need new springs - Smith & Wesson Mag Spring S&W 469 669 6904 6906 6924 6926 6944 6946

Get a new recoil spring also - Smith & Wesson Recoil Spring S&W 3953TSW 3913 3914 3914DAO 3953 3954

This is probably clearer, my 669 will not eject and re-chamber a new round after firing, I have to manually pull the slid back to eject and re-chamber.

Not new to guns but certainly not a journeyman. The gun has sat for sometime, probably 5 or 6 years. This is a problem that it has never had before although it probably only had a couple hundred rounds through it since I got it in 1989. The issue right now is it will not eject and re-chamber a new round after firing, I have to manually pull the slid back to eject and re-chamber.

So it's firing like a single shot and not moving?

Is the recoil spring broken or possibly installed backwards?
Or has it been replaced with the wrong spring?

4 things:
1) +1 jimbo728 rsa issue
2) is your 669 clean & lightly lubed?
3) does it happen with all mags?
4) are you using funky underpowered reloads?
