Default Model 469 I Couldn't Refuse

Over the weekend, I came across this little gem of a Model 469, 12rd "mini" 9mm. To my surprise, my offer was accepted (about the price of a S&W 9mm Shield after current rebate!).

It came with (2) 12rd factory magazines and original box. It looks like it was rarely used and is in near mint condition inside and out.

After some research, I found out there was a recall on these due to a de-cocker/safety issue. Even though this 469 is not within the serial number range for the recall, it still exhibits the faulty issue. Is it possible for models falling outside of the range to still be affected or am I not testing correctly?

I put the hammer in half-cock position and when I try to use the de-cocker, it does not move or drop the hammer. Otherwise all other functions are fine.

Those are neat little guns. I bought a similar one years ago surplus from the Illinois State Police. Looked like it had never been fired. A little fat in the butt for my hands but a very nice weapon never the less.

I do like that! I had a 669 for a few years and really liked it, my son has it now and shoots it much more than I did.

I had one for a couple of years...... hated the 2X4 feeling grip....... worked well ..... but got traded pretty quickly once the 3rd Gen 6906s hit the market.

If it fits "your hand".... you got a winner.....................

I do have large hands and it does fit me well. It's hard to find a small semi-auto that fits my hands comfortably. Not because of the thickness, but more due to the shorter grip. This one feels great both ways (with mag extension). My bigger problem is the fact that the grips are so slippery. They should be called slippers, not grips.

I'm keeping an eye out for some Uncle Mikes 469/669 grips, but the only set I've seen so far are too high priced for me. I am patient and ebay is great if you're patient.

In the meantime I have a set of (easier to find) Pachmayrs on the way. I know they are probably going to be too thick, but they will do for now.

Wish I could help with the question of half-cock and decocker as you described... all I can report is that my 469 is also an early A-prefix pistol like yours, even a bit earlier than yours and my decocker also does the same thing when the hammer is in the half-cock position. If there is a "problem" with my 469, it isn't one that bothers me.

As for it's ridiculously slippery grip, totally agree. My solution is NO beauty enhancement but it's incredibly low-budget but more importantly, it works amazingly well -- it's simple bicycle tire innertube. It isn't all too easy to get it on and you may need to try one, trim or start over and cut larger on your first try. But PLEASE consider giving it a shot, it not only stays put but I honestly believe it wears in and grips even better over time and it seems to not wear out. I tried my first one on an early Ruger P-95 and that one is STILL going strong ten years in. If anyone is familiar with the early style P-95, you'd swear that grip was carved from a bar of soap. Smooth & slippery barely captures the lack of "grip" on those early P-95's.

The bicycle innertube is very grabby and simply doesn't make the fat pistol any wider.
