Default 1006TSW with integral rail.....hmmmm

Just spitballin' here, with all this talk of the integral-rail California Highway Patrol 4006TSW's coming on the market at less than $400 each:

How practical would it be to convert these to 10mm? Would it be as "simple" as a barrel switch?

Anybody want to throw in on what the challenges would be to doing this? I'm no gunsmith or Frankengun maker....well, aside from the 4506 slide I bought to fit my 4566...and I'm not a 10mm guy....at present, anyway....so I was just thinkin' out loud....

Anybody got any spare 1006 barrels lying around?

you could ream the current barrel, lengthening the chamber to accept the longer 10mm round, but I do not think the 10mm rounds will work in the 4006 mags.

Just thinking out loud here.....

Yep, would be cool, but alas the frame is too small for 10mm.

The only options for conversion are the 4013 single stack and the CS40. These two are so easily converted to 10MM that you would have to conclude they originated as 10MM reverse engineered to 40S&W. They are the only 40S&W models built on the 10MM/45ACP size frame, and the magazines have a spacer to shorten them down to 40S&W.

As stated, the magazine would be the show stopper. Plus the barrel's not as strong since it's on the medium frame vs the 4013 being on the large frame.

Still hunting for suitable 10mm conversion pistol. Love the 10mm round.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Good stuff here.

I guess if it had been easy, somebody would have done it already.

I think with these 4006TSW's you could have two options for a caliber switch - a 5906TSW slide & barrel for 9mm integral rail, or a reamed 5906TSW barrel for 357 sig.
