Default Picked up a 4040PD at my LGS

I stopped in my LGS last week just to see if they had anything interesting. I've been looking for a carry gun for the warm months. Had my mind set on a Sig 239 or a 3914.

They didn't have either but they had this-

Came with six mags which didn't have a mark on them, and neither did the gun. It's been about 10 years since I've had a .40 in the stable, but what the heck.

I ordered a leather IWB holster and a few sets of new recoil springs, changed out the springs after I cleaned. I always change out the recoil springs when the gun's been previously owned. Lubed with a thin film of Lubriplate.

Haven't shot it yet - but fits me well and carries well. With the double-spring setup I'm thinking it should handle .40 well.

Nice!

Did it come with the original case too?

And may I ask how much?

Original case, even had the wax paper and fired shell casing. $750 OTD, which seemed reasonable all things considered

That is an understatement. The mags alone are worth $40-50 bucks a piece, plus condition of the pistol and the original case and the rest.

Nice find, congrats.

Welcome to the S&W Forum. Accept no substitutes.

Congratulations on your new purchase. That pistol
is neat. I remember seeing them at Gun Stores
when I was younger.

Please give a Range Report when you get a chance to
shoot it.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

They are really nice pistols. You are going to like it.

My local had one January 2000 but I hadn’t a clue what it was. I wasn’t “into” .40’s that much but it seemed like a nice 3rd Gen.

I asked about them here on the Forum and all the input was positive so I got it. It appeared to have never been shot and was complete with everything. I won’t mention what I paid for it but it was a steal.

Since then I’ve replaced the grip and got a bunch more magazines. New factory magazines are still $19.99 for the flat base ones.

Love mine.

It is better than my SIG P239 everyday and twice on Sunday.
