Got the old gal home yesterday, charged the mag and here we go. First three shots dead on....OK, let's see if she'll run? Blitzed the rest of the mag, charged her up again and flawlessly executed a rapid 'pray and spray' maneuver.
Yep she'll run alright.
Time for the field strip and lube job. Oh my( insert much more colorful language here)!!!! At first glance I thought, this has to be one of those YouTube torture test guns.
It had about a spoonful or bearing grease in it and a lot of rounds fired since cleaning. Wow, you talk about a mell of a hess.....even the mag was goopy. OK, got her all cleaned up and wondering if she'll even cycle now with all that trash gone??? Yep she's an ape runner now! Thanks guys for the advice on the purchase. I've been looking at her in the case for months now and am proud to own her.
I think she likes me too(caught her smiling at me thru the corner of my eye when I redressed after the major bath).
Gotta go, she's wanting me to take her outside and play some more

Another happy S & W Forum ending . Bet it was a couple ounces lighter after the cleaning too.

I had a similar experience a few months back. I bought a beautiful S&W Md 745. Internally, it was the dirtiest gun I had ever handled. The slide was very, very difficult to remove and that I suspect it had NEVER been removed for cleaning. It functions and disassembles perfectly now.
