What's a ctg?

What is a maracas registradas?
Was this a Mexican pistol(might explain the bearing grease)?
The steel round dowel the slide rides on has significant hand grinding marks on it towards the muzzle end. Having hand ground many of tools and such, I know this can't be the work of Bubba! Normal factory work?
Did anyone buy this pistol new and the factory lube was bearing grease? I' m wondering if this pistol has never been stripped and cleaned before?
Rain is starting to stop, more playtime. Does the ' Kings English' allow the use of "starting to stop?" Oh yeah...its a six inch barrel with adjustable sights.

Welcome to the Forum!
CTG=cartridge
Marcas registradas=trademark
S&W began using "marcas registradas" when Spanish speaking countries were making unauthorized copies of S&W products.
Not a Mexican pistol.
.22 ammo has a lubed bullet.
If someone shoots a bunch of them without cleaning, it can build up a mess of goo in the action.

mega thanks!!!
That's good info, all are serious questions (well except the Mexican part). She's eating any and all brands of junk food.
I can very well see that bullet lube building up( yep spoonful was exaggeration, but it was a lot of goo).... That and never cleaned; you nailed it!
If I'd bought this pistol first, I wouldn't own the other 22
Semi's... I'd been tracking down these Sweeties!
So the hunt begins...

Prefix TCE is probably from 1989.

Here is a quick hint-- when starting a new thread, please give some hint of the subject matter when you name the thread. While "rain on my range" does somewhat set the scene for us, it offers no clue that we'd be discussing a Model 422.
It's not a huge deal, but it does attract more folks who care specifically about a particular model to click, read and further discussion.
The 422 was made for a short time between the mid-80's and mid-90's. It was S&W's first "modern" attempt at an entry-level priced plinker rimfire pistol. Before it debuted, S&W offered only the very expensive Model 41 or a Model 17/K-22 revolver.
The 422 was introduced along with the 622. Both pistols have frames made of aluminum alloy and both were offered in 4.5" or 6" barrels with either fixed or adjustable sights. The 622 is a silver or bright color while the 422 is black or perhaps a dark blue. Shortly after, S&W offered the 2206 which looks similar but the frame is all stainless and makes for a much heavier pistol. These pistols. They also offered the 2213/2214 which are compact guns on the same design.
These guns share magazines (somewhat!) with the legendary Model 41. This series preceded the much different Model 22A series of pistols. The low-chamber and low-barrel design makes for a somewhat odd looking pistol, but they do have a great reputation as fun plinkers. Near the end of production, they also offered a "vent rib" barrel and another special run with even better sights, I don't know much about those but they seem to be rather scarce.

They are a very well made and accurate gun for the money. Yes they are also scarce as well but do use the same mags as the M41 and M46. Only around 4000 of the M46's made as well.
