Colt Government 1911 in .45 full size. 1000's of trouble free rounds, but that is only if I have to carry a semi. Otherwise it's a model 37 .38 airweight.
Peace,
Gordon

Default When bigger is better ...

The Model 915 is an excellent choice when a high capacity gun is called for. Mine carry 17 + 1 for 18 rounds on board:

Two 915's one for the range with low profile adjustable sights, and one for carry with fresh Trigicons for low light situations.

For those in repressive states 10 round magazines are available.

Don't feel alone there
I've got a Ballister-Molina that has occasionally
slipped into rotation

Going to toss another option to the OP.
Given that I'd prefer never to loose my
CS45 or CS40, went Inexpensive but reliable route...
Now own two Star M45's as EDC's...same size
as the CS 40/45, even uses the same CS45 mags,
also has 1911-style controls, but only cost around $400
in Like-New condition, far less if well-used

Why? They're reliable, but the main thing is,
if you ever have to use your EDC to defend with,
the cops are going to confiscate it. Frankly I
have reservations about how well the local PD
would care for it while determining the events.

So this is why a good used inexpensive pistol
is now my EDC, the CS40 & CS45 are now for
Dress-Up/BBQ carry, and if I have to have all four
on me, something has gone terribly wrong with
the world

It's also a good reason to consider the new SHIELD.
Especially with the rebate. Buy two

The LGS wanted $850 for it, but today I held a Model 340PD. Easy pocket carry, no weight to speak of, 5 rounds of 357, it has to kick like a mule, but if needed, who cares. I may get me one of those some day.

My winter EDC is typically this Kimber Ultra Carry Series I (2000 vintage) that I have carried forever in a Ken Campbell custom $OB holster. Getting older now and will move to a Milt Sparks VersaMax II holster that I currently have on order.

I bought my 3953 new in 1991, and other then a short period of time that I carried a Glock 30 (late 1990's), it (3953) is again/still my primary carry choice, with my 642 as a BUG, or when it is all I can carry.

Default More Power to You ...

4013 rechambered to 10mm is a compact powerhouse for EDC in bear country.

The recoil is vigorous and the report and muzzle blast is impressive, but sending 180gr downrange at 1500fps is comforting when your attacker weighs 800 lbs.

I guess I'll ask the naive stupid question - why no GunBroker or similar IF the gun you want is on the CADOJ approved list? That would open up a lot more possibilities than you are going to find locally.......
