Default 41PC re-assembly help

New 41PC disassembled to clean and the trigger guard will not return to locked position. The trigger guard will not return even with the barrel removed. Is that normal? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Make sure your barrel is sitting straight on top of the pistol and set back into its proper position. Put some oil on the slides and safety area and you should be good to go.

Tom, The trigger guard does not move in at any point. Barrel and slide off, hung up solid.

This is a brand new, unfired since factory, and I don't want to leave any scars that will make S&W blame me.

Thanks for your input, please let me know if you have any ideas?

See my earlier posts re. S&W quality Control.

Disappointing to say the least that this is STILL happening out of the S&W's PREMIUM workshop.

And just as a follow up to my QC issue............. I even ended up emailing the S&W CEO, James Debney ( Debney, James, [email protected] ) still remains unanswered ( it was however read, as I received the read receipt for my message )

To the OP, I would send it back.

It is probably just a piece of swarf or such stuck behind the locking pawl...... but even so, not good enough !

Shocking for such a company to treat it's customers with such contempt.

Thanks for the suggestions. The pistol is going back to S&W. I'll let you know what they say and do.

S&W has had the pistol for 12 days and it has not made it to repair yet. I don't think these boys give any priority to new un-fired guns that don't work. The Performance Center is doing its thing, NONperforming.

Yeah, they should drop everyone else' gun that sent theirs in before you and push yours to the front for repair. Sounds completely fair to me.

Glad you figured it out Tom! Please call them and make it happen.

Perhaps they are building such **** they need a bigger repair department.

Did you have the slide completely open with NO magazine in the gun? If not then that may be well what the problem was or is.

Yes to all. I have read where many have a difficult time closing the trigger guard upon reassembly. However, this one did not move at all even with the the barrel and slide removed. New gun, I did not want to force it, better that their people break or mar the pistol.

This problem does not really happen all that often on most M41's. Yes it is better to let them figure it out at home base.

It finally came back, the problem was just poor quality control from the Performance Shop! Now fixed and it shot quite well with CCI Minimags.

Yes, I know most recommend CCI SV but I have shot Minimages for forty some years and like them. My last 41 went through 10's of thousands of them and it was still working well when I got rid of it (mistake).

This repair did not cost me anything but time and that's damn expensive at my age. I wish I would have purchased and older used model instead of going for the Performance model. Modern S&W is not worth the money in my opinion, and "Performance Center" is truly a joke.

I have started looking for a decent 22 lr pistol. I don't want to deal with S&W ever again.

Greetings, yes, Mini Mags in a Mod. 41 are great for your gun? I suspect it's like trying to teach an old dog new tricks. You have been shooting them for years, why change to standard velocity ammo?
