Price check, 39-2 Devel
Stopped by at lunch and my LGS has been sitting on a 39-2 Devel (-B019) for me, standard with modified M39 stocks.
He doesn't know how to price it, so we were trying to figure it out so I can buy it.
Shows a lot of carry wear, doesn't look shot a lot.
Wondering if anyone had an idea on price.
Thanks !

Well, there's always the old, Whatcha Got In It?
and then add $100, usually gets the job done

Does it look like this?
$3500 plus in 2014. I also have one but all my pics are on PB and I can't access from overseas. Mine looks just like this one. I won't say what I paid in 2014...it was less but it was in the ballpark..

No, the one pictured in the link is a full conversion, this one doesn't have the modified trigger guard and sports modified M39 stocks with the Devel logo.
Looks like the one in this link.

Id expect to pay $2K or a little more for the Devel 39-2 pictured in your link. It has some, but not all of the mods Devel did.
In any case, it is a fine and desireable pistol. For the history alone if nothing else. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

In my opinion 18DAI is on the mark.
An interesting collectible and a gun I really wanted in the mid 80s....................today LOL if I'm going to spend near two grand........I'd rather have a 3913,3914,3913NL and a 3914NL!!
Good luck

Got pics !
I swung by today and the owner was in, I had told his brother earlier this week what they should consider as a price based on 18DAI's recommendation and some research I'd been doing.
Told him that it was outside my comfort zone, I like deals on shooters, so not to hold it on my account. Told me it was a consignment gun, a elderly widow trying to liquidate her late husbands collection. He doesn't expect it to move very quickly. Told him it was a niche piece and the Internet might get the visibility to find a collector at that price point. He said if it hangs around he'd let me take it at a lower price. He'll make his money no matter.
Take some pictures, tell your friends, find me a buyer!
It's at my honey hole, I've gotten a lot of nice, rare for around here pieces from them, and we always negotiate a price we can both live with.
If anyone's interested in it, PM me and I'll give you the contact info, I'd like it to wind up with someone who wants it and appreciates it . But if it languishes it might be mine.

For a quick sale, you may want to contact Wayne Novak at his shop in Parkersburg WV. He has a substantial collection of Devel pistols and may be interested.
While it is hard to tell things from a photo and much better to examine the gun in question in hand, a couple of things stick out about this Devel 39-2.
While it appears to be chopped and channelled and has a Devel magazine base pad and Devel logo on the grips, it is lacking quite a few of his mods. The grip tang is not reduced. Neither is the slide stop thumb rest or the decocker paddles. The hammer appears to come from a 3913. Not the recontoured and chromed 39 hammer that Mr Kelsey normally installed in his guns.
The magazine release button appears to be the factory original rather than the hard chromed piece that Mr Kelsey usually installed - even in the lightly modified 39-2s he produced near the end of his efforts. The finish appears to be hard chrome but it is difficult to tell from the picture. And the gun does appear to have been carried a bit and enjoyed at the range.
I would be curious about the barrel - is it throated? And Id be interested in the trigger pull. IIRC Mr Kelsey put a smooth 8lb pull in DA and a 4.4lb SA.
I point out these things NOT to disparage this fine pistol and historical jewel. But simply to provide some perspective and perhaps a few haggling points for a perspective buyer. I would expect that given the condition of this Devel modified 39-2, with the aforementioned mods missing, one might be able to put it on display in their collection for less than the $2K That it is probably worth. My 0.02 Regards 18DAI
