The Start of Something Good
Just copped a police trade-in 5906. Completely disassembled it (though I have the rear sight soaking in Kroil as it is not wanting to slide out).
Frame is currently soaking in a can of carb cleaner. Will bead-blast it soon.

Me too Mack. Got a wooden grip on the way. That is what I'm really looking forward to.

Amazing transformation. You did a fine job, and you saved a nice pistol.
I appreciate the detailed before and after pictures you posted. I never take any before pictures, but I should.
Thanks !!!!

They don't slide out. You'll need a big hammer.

The grips really look nice on there. Did you treat or paint the metal, or did you bead blast, and leave it raw?
I really can't tell from the pictures?

Glass bead blasted and left it as it was. I need to burnish it in a tumbler with a media whose composition escapes me at the moment. It needs a very low sheen finish. Right now it picks up everything.
