Availability of target barrels for Victory rimfire?
So, how long will we have to wait for S&W to introduce 7" (or longer) target barrels for the new Victory .22LR pistol?

My guess is they won't introduce specialty barrels any time soon if ever. They appear to be focused on producing a very serviceable low cost gun that can be upgraded with aftermarket parts. I have both the Volquartsen barrels and really like the lightweight carbon fiber wrapped one for shooting in steel matches.
The 22 Victory is a real bargain compared to the Ruger Mark IV.

Availability of target barrels for Victory rimfire?
Thank you, gentlemen, for your valued comments. Yes, I am aware of the Volquartsen barrels, and, as a consequence of your positive comments, I have taken another close look at them.
My original question was based on my past experiences shooting a Ruger target pistol with a 10" barrel. It sat comfortably in my hand (not extremely muzzle-heavy) and consistently laid the rounds into the X and 10-rings.
I had hoped S&W would be coming out with longer barrels, but this may not happen for some time.
In looking at the 'Vol-sen' barrels, I noted the carbon fiber barrel with the forward-direction compensated vents brings the overall length to 8.25", although I realize not all of this length is 'lands and grooves'.
Does your carbon fiber barrel have the compensator, and have you noticed any tightening of groups with your preferred brand and type of ammunition?
Do you believe the cost of the 'Vol-sen' barrel was worth the extra money for the accuracy improvement?

I have the Volquartsen forward blow-comp on the carbon fiber barrel. I am a speed steel shooter(not a group shooter) so I really don't measure groups as such. I sight the gun in for a distance that works for the steel set-ups. I especially like the lightweight barrel for fast transition because the barrel doesn't over-run the next target when I swing through a stage.
I select ammo for reasonable good accuracy, BUT the primary factor is reliability....if the gun jams the match is lost. That said, I routinely run Federal Automatch or Federal Champion 36gr JHPs. The Champion runs cleaner.

The Victory's design lends itself to being a relatively easy handgun to build a custom barrel to replace the OEM barrel. With a lathe one could build all sorts of variations on twist, length and barrel weight in short order. Now that I have given it some thought....I might just jump in and build a custom barrel for the 22 Short..... :-)
