Default Model 411 Physical Characteristics are Identical to / Similar to ??

Hi 3rd Gen Gurus -

I own a Model 411. I need to find a suitable OWB holster for my 411 but this thread is *NOT* specifically about holsters - I can do that research on my own.

What I'd like to know from anyone with expertise is the following: "The Model 411 shares the same external dimensions as the 40XX, or is very, very close to the Model . . ."

I'm assuming the best guess is 4006? The 40 series pistols share a lot of similar parts, but I'm having trouble confirming the dimension similarities between the 411 and other pistols (within a close enough tolerance for retention holsters, etc.)

The 411 was only in production for a short time before the 1994 AWB; the 410 which "replaced" it was apparently different both in terms of external physical dimensions and internal parts; and after much internet searching, most OEM and after-market parts are targeted at a whole series of 40 series pistols. But I don't want to order a 40XX holster that won't work well for my 411.

I'll contact S&W Monday, but I thought I'd check in with the experts first !

Not knowing either of the pistols, I do know some things...
slides among .40-S&W models tend to be the same...
and quite often .45acp slides were used paired with
fat .40 barrels so the diameters remained the same.
In this way companies saved money by using the same slide
across many different models.

So chances are high, probably even higher once you find out
the vitals on each slide

And sometimes they use the same slide for 9mm & .40, like
the Star Firestar & Ultrastar lines...go figure

Oh, found out it's the same slide & mags as a 4006, hope that helps

Thanks! I knew the mags worked interchangeably but couldn't find anything about the slide or frame (well, almost anything).

The "best" info I've been able to track down was from a thread in this forum 8 years ago: 411/4006 differences

A poster there says that the 411 frame in front of the grip is wider / bulkier than the 4006.

I'll keep hunting, and maybe someone who knows will chime in!

4013,4014,4053,4054,4040PD,CS40 were based/derived from the 45 platform.
All other 40s' were based/derived from the 9mm platform.
9mm and 40S&W double stack mags are the same size.
TSWs' have 3.5" barrel with appropriate slide.
I know this doesn't answer your question/concern.
410/411 has the same slide length/barrel length(4") as the 4006. Since the guns length is the same as a 4006 and the magazine well/cavity is the same as a 4006,logically,to me,410/411 is the same as 4006.

5903/4/5/6 (round trigger guard), 4003/4/6, 915 and 411 should all use the same holster.

Just to wrap this thread up for posterity and future searchers, according to S&W customer service, "the closest dimensionally similar pistol would probably be the 4013" and "holsters that work with the 4000 series are likely to work with the 411 as long as there is retention adjustment."
