10mm base pad retainers
As far as I can tell, the metal base pad retainers are still like hens teeth to find. Please let me know if you have a source. After a year or two of little to no luck, I have found a fabricator who may be able to make them for me. I will have to contract for more pieces than I can use, so, I may be back here to see if anyone else is interested. Stand by for now....
thanks for listening,
fuzzy

I have given up on finding the little buggers and sold my last spare 10mm mag tube here last week. Midway will send an email saying they're in-stock - but are always out of stock as soon as I log in. I see the mag tubes are still available - if you crack the code on this I'd sure be interested ...

I bought 3 from Midway about a week ago after being on their "notify" list for about a year and missing out numerous times. I just happened to be on my IPad when I received the email, and immediately went to the website.
Talk about dumb luck
I had all the parts from Numrich and Midway to build 3 new mags but was missing the catch plates.

Why not just improvise and use a different catch plate?

I have seen that the 4506 catch plates would work ... but they're also out of stock at Midway and Numrich ...

You will probably find buyers here.

Numrich sent me these by mistake once and they are slightly too wide to fit in the tube - and I'm too lazy to make them work.

I made a couple out of 0.030 stainless sheet stock. Wasn't brain surgery, but is ......interesting. IIRC, a blank is 7/16 " wide and 1.407 long. I turned a brass stud to make the locking pin.
jsbethel-how much for your 4506 catch plates?

I took some of the plates for the 4006 and hand-filed the sides evenly until they fit in the 10mm mag. Took a while but it works no prob.

Jelly,
I know the feeling. I never watch my email that closely so I have been missing out for over a year.
Thanks to all for suggestions of modifying other plates. I had thought of that, but I am useless with my hands. They refuse to speak to my brain. It all boils down to cost, and it looks like the shop I found will be able to recreate the part perfectly for a reasonable cost. If that's the case and I can offer the part to anyone who wants it for less than $5 each, that may cover some of my costs.
Thanks again for all the responses. I would rather spend all day talking to S&W guys than speak to a politician for two minutes. Just saying.
God bless you and yours,
fuzzy
