Any Ugly Semi's Out There?
I know we all enjoy seeing pics of S&W semi's that are beautiful in their old age...but do you have an ugly one that you'd care to post a pic of? By "ugly" I mean a beater that still functions...scrapes, gouges, pitting, etc. There's a dealer on gb that occasionally has an "ugly gun special" or two. Yep...they're ugly!

Well I don't think you could get much worse then the people you mention. Although for the right price I would be tempted to buy one of them.

In my opinion, S&W never made a truly ugly handgun of any kind.
The all-time world record for designing an ugly firearm goes to Kijiro Nambu, who was an officer in the Japanese Army in 1934 when he designed the Type 94 pistol. It was not only ugly, but awkward, tactically unsound in its operation, and even downright dangerous. To this day, it has never been equaled for lack of grace and efficacy. It was a real stinker in every respect.

Next I suppose you will say pistolcraft was not part of his culture!
Thanks for the pic. I have never seen one of those before.

Yep; reliable and accurate.
With proper grip and technique, it twirls thru the air like a tomahawk when thrown...

It wasn't at all uncommon for jap officers to shoot themselves in the thigh while reholstering due to the exposed sear bar.

Anything made by Ruger should get at least an "honorable" mention.

This used SW380, which has been for sale for years now near me, is pretty darn ugly although the photo doesn't even begin to do it justice.

Ugly is as ugly does...
I had a Llama .22 mini 1911 almost clone. It looked good but a can of coke was safe (or very unlucky) at 20 feet If I'd had my lathe then, I'd have turned a new bushing and built up & recut the barrel lug recess. For all that, it was a cute thang. At least it was possible to engage the safety.
I have a Jenning J22 that's nothing to write home about but with good ammo it goes bang every time... it might just endanger my apres' shoot coke. But the sliding safety is about impossible to work.
When I started with the PD in the late 70's, we could sign out a Victory model with maybe 10% finish... that rattled when shaken & 6 mismatched rounds of RNL. Yeah, that was ugly. I carried my Blue M19 until I could locate a M66.
A SXS damascus 17 bore percussion that some damn fool had sanded down & ruined. The hardware no longer fitted...

I'd like to own an ugly .38... a M10 or maybe a Ruger Service 6. I used to keep such a gun, as a loaner. When a cousin or friend needed a gun on short notice... I didn't have to give one if my good guns.
The closest I have now is a IL M66-7 (ex-Aussie PD trade in).
I might opt to loan a Bay State arms single shot 16G with a mismatched stock & a hacksaw choke... with 6 shells on the stock in an elastc carrier.

A Model 10 is never ugly! Although I do have one that is beat up. The picture might be too tiny to prove that, however. The nickel plating is really rough but it is an old Wells Fargo war horse and boy can it shoot!!!
Some folks say I made this Ruger ugly. Some folks don't say that. Nobody says it after they drill a target with it.
