They can often be found on eBay or Gun Broker, but be prepared to pay $150 give or take. No one ever made an aftermarket magazine so the only ones available are the ones the factory made.

All my mags work in all variations. I have early steel followers in a figure eight and solid plastic followers.

Last year I came across a model 52 mag in the bargain bin at the LGS. It was lacking a price tag so I went to the floor manager who I knew well enough to say hello to. Held out the mag and told him it was lacking a price tag. He looked at it, asked me if I knew what it was for and I replied yes. He asked me if I had a use for it and I replied yes again. His response was how does five dollars sound?

I have a 52-2, and both the plastic followers and the steel earlier ones work fine. All are S&W made, if you are patient deals can be found I got one steel mag for $40 and 2 steel mags for $75. Ebay is often $100 to $150 if you have to have one now.
