Default Value of Recon 40

I have a Performance Center Recon 40 that I bought new back in the late 90's. I'm looking to sell it, and am having a hard time figuring a price to ask. I've looked on Gunbroker, and searched other sites, but it seems it's a fairly unusual gun, so not much data on it.

Any ideas on pricing, or where to look for pricing info?

Thanks

I see a couple on-line that went for mid-$800's. I know one of my local dealers would list it at $899 or even more if in really top condition with factory box, paperwork, etc. Another dealer near me had one for sale about 2 years ago. I seem to recall him having it tagged at something like $949. I was more interested in another gun at the time (my Model 645) so I didn't really check it out for condition or box, etc. I just made a mental note that it was there and if I won the lottery I'd be right back for a better look!

Thanks for the reply. I do have all the paperwork, mags, metal PC case, etc. Probably only has 300-400 rounds through it over the years.

It's not in the SCS&W....... but IMHO the 90s PC Autos were the best of the PC guns. Based on your posts and TTSH's......

Is the Recon a single or double stack? 69xx frame or ?????

The Shorty 9s are a favorite carry gun.....

I'd price it at just under a Grand....... you can always move the price down!

M4006 frame. Mags hold 9, so not single stack, but not a wide double either.

Thanks.

Good photo of a 40 Recon which I stole from the Interwebs!

Note the 10-round extended magazines.

Yes it is built on the 4006 one of smiths best 40 cals ever made. If the decals are in pristine condition then I would say you could get 1200 maybe more for it. As a shorty 40 owner I am kind of wondering why you are selling it. They are about the best forty cal guns ever made.

Thank for the input. The decals are in great shape. It's spent the vast majority of its life in a gun safe. Cleaned and oiled on a regular basis, but not shot often.

It's just a gun I've never shot well. I guess we all have guns we don't gel with, and this is mine, for whatever reason. I like the gun looks and feel wise, but after owning it for almost 20 years and not shooting it much, I feel like it's time to let someone else own it. But I'm in no hurry to sell it, either. Not costing me anything sitting in the safe. I'll probably throw it up on one of the gun sale websites at some point.
