Default Model 39-2

Hello, I'm new to the S&W forum. I have my father's 9mm Model 39-2 SN 141XXX. Can anyone give me any info such as year produced/shipped, and from what I see it is probably alloy and not a steel frame.
Thanks

1971 seems a likely production year and yes, alloy frame. There were a very scarce few steel frame Model 39 (no dash) pistols that pre-date your 39-2.

These are fantastic pistols and much loved in these forums.
