Default 669 and 639 9mm Pistols

Hi, new to the forum. Huge Smith and Wesson fan especially the older full metal frame pistols. Just picked up both a 669 and a 639 pistol at my local store here in Richmond VA. Paid $400 a piece. Was it a good price? I have heard a lot of good about these and cannot wait to shoot them. Any insight on either would be great! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum !

Yes, in these parts that would be a descent price. I have a 669 & a 469 but only 1st and 3rd gen 39's.

There was a recall on the 469/669, you can search here on the forum and find the info. My 669 is ok, but the 469 fails the test. Need to send it in.

They're great shooters, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the info! I tried it out and my 669 fails the test as well. Guess I will have to send it in.

$400 is almost a benchmark for 2nd and 3rd Generation Smith automatics. If the guns were in good shape you did good. The 639 was probably the better buy.
