Default The Model 422 stocks

I have been noticing the grips/stocks on the M-422 are made from wood in most I have seen of late while the other models are wearing the black examples. Of all the choices of models the M-422 would not have been the one I would have thought to have the upgraded stocks. Yes, some of the wood colored stocks are actually some kind of molded plastic hoping to appear as wood. Does anyone here have any inside info or explanation as to why the M-422 is seen wearing wood more often than the others?

Just guessing it was a way to sell the lower end model by dressing it up with wood. I have tried both the wood and black plastic grips on my 422 and think the wood look and feel the best.
