Custom Carry .45 3G Smith ...
Some might recognize this fine 4516-1 ~ it's been posted here before.
Custom melt job, hand checkering fore and aft, silky action job, mirror polished feed ramp, Melonite treated slide, frame, and barrel.
(No living trees were hurt during the shooting of the weapon)
Not bad for first time out. Fired a magazine of 230 gr FMJ first to find the post and ball it liked. Big Dot™ Tritium sights.
Sights are dead on alignment and elevation. Anything not in the red is me wandering. seven yards double action only.
Shooting Hornady Critical Duty +P .45 220 gr FlexLock™ bullets. Which will be what this weapon will carry.
Probably the finest pistol I have ever fired. Certainly the finest pistol I own or will ever own. I'm gonna carry it and shoot it regularly.

Methinks you might be right. The Master Cheif's magic has created this weapon as it is like no other.
The polished stainless guiderod fits the flat coil Glock 22# spring like a piston in it's cylinder.
First gun I ever held that said it's ready to carry, well the 547 is close. Usually takes at least 100 trouble free rounds before I'm comfortable trusting my life to a weapon.

It wasn't about money. No price could be put on artwork like this. I had something the maker wanted for his next awesome project. I think we all can look forward to another step by step to blow us away with his mad skills and impecable craftsmanship. I feel honored to be an enabler.
It makes my 457 look fat and ugly and feel like a brick. It has an incredible lightness of being when in hand that seems to float up to point of aim.

I like the new lines around the muzzle. Part of the melt I suppose. It reminds me of the lines of my CS45 in that area.
VERY good looking 4516!! Regards 18DAI

Melonite is not a "coating" it is an acid dip that penetrates the stainless steel and hardens it. The black color is just a pleasant result of the process.
The weapon feels silky smooth when handled, no edges except where needed by the precise hand checkering.

I had one of those once. It outshot my Colt Gold Cup by such a margin that it made me wonder why I needed the Gold Cup. Mine wasn't dolled up like yours, but I had a similar impression about it. It felt pretty much "ready to go" just as it was - never a problem with that gun. I'd probably still have it but a friend really wanted it and I convinced myself that it was "too heavy," so I let him have it. That sent me back to my Commander, which was nowhere near as accurate, but quite a bit lighter. Anyway, very handsome little .45 you've got there. Congratulations on your new acquisition!

The master craftsman may make an appearance here. Until that time I'm keeping it a secret. I don't want him too busy to do a similar makeover on my 1013.

That is one sweet gun! I'm eyeballing a 2-tone 457 at my LGS pretty hard. I may have leave it be and look for a 4516 to add to my collection instead.
He's getting ready to do a 1013 conversion for me as soon as my parts get here. I am so stoked, that man does amazing work. My parts can't get here soon enough!

The 457 is a better gun than the 4516 ..

For a carry gun that is. If you can get over the Glocky Bolckyness of it, it's lighter and shoots just as well as a stock 4516. I have a bone stock 4516-2 but would rather shoot and carry one of my 457's.
I'll still carry my primary 457, it's got the same Big Dot™ night sights and the trigger is great, once past the first double action grittiness (at least that my two have). The plastic parts in it have been banished (I can't tolerate plastic in any gun I'm going to carry, but that's just me)
Of course this particular 4516-1 goes far beyond anything that has ever come out of the Mothership, even the Performance Center variants (especially today's PC).

I am enjoying it immensely I've already started to carry it. Sort of ultimate BBQ gun when with friends.
Two friends I had already told about it's coming got to shoot it today. One put plastic lid about 6" in diameter on a knoll by his garage and we each took a shot at it.
Used to target sights, both friends shot 6" low in the dirt below the lid. I knew what sight alignment the Big Dot™ worked with; Put the pumpkin on the post, and cover the target with the pumpkin. I center punched the lid from about 30'.
I'm loving it.

Well, if we could just get the Pirates in gear, that would be legitimate claim. Oh heck, it still is, even without a baseball championship.
Nice custom carry OP!!!

Your generosity was not lost on me...just got the boys back to school, and I have a vacation coming up. I might be able to squeeze in a few hours Monday morning, but later in the month would much better for me. I can bring donuts (and ammo)!
You don't happen to have a Bren Ten squirreled away anywhere, do ya???

I've thought about going up there for that, but can you shoot there? I think Pete wants to shoot some of my guns and so do I!
Showing guns off is one thing, but it's the shooting of them that reveals their true character.
