That was the only one I liked(for the price) but I've got a 3953 that I acquired in February.
The 639 was nice but I'm not into 2nd gens. The 5906 was overpriced and the 2 6906s' were WAY overpriced by 200-300.

I was in town Friday and stopped at a couple small shops. Saw three Smith Autos.
469 decent shape $250
910 a little rough $299
908 a little rough $299
Since I have all three I passed.

It used to be that prices at gunshows were lower than local shops. Is it just me, or have gunshows become a local version of what you see on the auction sites?

Sellers take their cue from auction sites and price accordingly.

Gun show prices ARE lower than local shops. But the discussion was 3rd gen S&W pistols which are more desirable/collectable than the 'plastic' framed pistols. If I was in the market for current production stuff (pistols, rifles,ARs',shotguns),I would be shopping at the shows. But we do have a great store(s) here in northern Ohio,Fin Feather Fur. I've been looking at something for CCW instead of wanting to use a 3rd gen. The Ruger EC9 seems ideal to me. It lists at 300 and FFF has it at 250. I'm not a web shopper/purchaser.

Ditto!
Too bad that Model 6946 was just "shooter grade"... more polite terminology than my usual "used & abused"! I'm in the market for a second Model 6946, but only one even nicer than the one I own already!
And that's gonna be awfully tough!

Not around here. It seems 90% of gun show tabes are guys with ZERO interest in actually selling anything, based on their prices. Local store prices beat gun shows and auctions in my area 100% of the time. 3rd gens are not exempt unfortunately, and people think their police-trade-in 5906 is "rare".
My assumption of gun show "sellers" here is that they tell their wife they are going to sell a bunch of guns. Then they pack them up and put them on their table with outrageous and laughable prices on them (Glock 17 for $675, S&W model 10-5 for $700 because it's rare haha!). When their guns don't sell, they can tell their wife they tried their best.
I think it's cheaper to pay for a table at a show and than it is for three days of admission most places, and then you can get a really good look at the hard-to-find stuff before the local populace comes in. This, I believe, is the standard these days at shows.
I seem to see the same three guys selling 1911 grips and magazines for 200% markup, and the same old timer with mossberg bolt action shotguns for $400.
Oh, and there is a lot of beef jerky and old DVDs.

Not if I saw it first!
The shows I've been to recently (not many) have been um... disappointing.
That is at least a nice selection to gawk at.

There were plenty of S&W revolvers(both lock and pre-lock) too,but didn't do any listing/recording of what I saw.
The Berea Ohio show has about 8 shows per calendar year and has 2 types of shows. The cold weather shows in 3 smaller heated buildings for about 400 tables total, the 'warm' weather shows(Ha,yesterday was 39 degrees where we should have been in the low 60s') in 3 larger buildings for 500-600 tables. There were no empty tables. Could have easily spent 8 hours there if I wanted to 'gawk' at everything. Didn't see any revolver 'deals'.

Didn't see any beef jerky and old DVDs'. There were some knife dealers as I look them over for 'inexpensive' S&W knives, they're good for props in gun pics. A few target dealers, much surplus dealers(but not too many as to be annoyingly too many),ammunition, accessories, and firearms.

There was a table full of 4046TSWs and 69XXs at the last gun show in Orlando all priced at $329. I picked up an excellent 4046TSW trade in from Brinks. Still had life left in the night sights and the Brinks logo laser etched on the slide. Best money I spent in a while and might get another if they show up again at the next one.

I got one of those on gunbroker as well. A large police distributor in Apopka got them in on trade from what I can tell, as they keep listing Brinks 4046TSW's on gunbroker.

All I had to do was a bit of spring cleaning and install a new set of Hogue grips. Before anyone goes bananas, I eliminated the serial number from the picture, not the pistol!

Nice,like the Brinks logo !
The 40S&W pistols may be a 'dying breed' but NOT when it comes to the S&W 3rd gens. Metal and quality will always be desirable/collectable.

Brinks got rid of the 4046 a few years ago. Now we are getting rid of the M&P 40's. They have the Brinks logo on top of slide by the rear sight. My small branch should get the new FN 409 9 mm's sometime this year.
