Default New 4014

Just scored a LNIB 4014. It appears to be unfired. Will post pictures later when I get to a laptop.

The magazine followers look a little dirty but otherwise the mags are pristine. The feedramp and barrel are pristine.

This is my second 4014 now. The first one I also bought LNIB which had about 50 rounds through it. I've probably put 1500 more down range and it's my daily carry gun. (Sits perfectly in a TT Gunleather IWB that I bought from Tim Thurner about 5 years ago.)

These are really perfect sized carry guns. Single stack, alloy frame and compact barrel. S&W made 500 4014's. I couldn't pass this one up, even though I paid slightly more than I'd planned to as some guy bid it up at the last minute!

If S&W were to ever make a 4th gen or special order 3rd gen surely I'd vote for ones like the 3913NL, 6906 and 4014.

Actually, according to Roy Jinks of S&W in the factory letter on my 4014 they made 550 "units." Since you now own two, you're on your way to cornering the market. Enjoy.

Denver

Thanks! I've seen both 500 and 550 but I'll trust you over anything else I've seen!

I don't plan to corner the market; but would definitely buy another one if the price was right and funds available. Definitely would give one to our son. And a 3913 Lady Smith for the daughter.

Also the 4014,along with the 4013,4053,4054 are desirable as they can be/are converted to 10mm.

Yeah, but with only 550 units manufactured, I'd keep a 4014 in as original and nice condition as I could.

Oh, here's the letter:

Denver -

That's the plan for this second one. Again, I'll post pics later but it's mint.

My first one is very clean but does have some nice holster wear.

I found mine on consignment about 9 years ago. It was in 99%+ condition, you know, the kind of condition that makes you ask, "Hey, where's the box?" However, there was just the pistol with one magazine. I took it out to the range a couple of times, before turning it into a safe queen. When I got the factory letter from Mr. Jinks I was not surprised there were only 550 made because, while I had seen a few 4013 pistols, had never seen a 4014 before. In fact, I've not seen another one for sale around here since.

It's really a nice shooting son of a gun . . . pardon the pun.

Hey DuckHunter I've got a 3913LS that I'll trade for the 4014 with holster wear.

And I'll also throw in the hat.

If she prefers stainless I've got a very Cherry 3913NL with action job by "T" (Teddy Jackobson) and slide and barrel work by our own BMCM.

This one will cost you your LNIB 4014 though.

Default New 4014 and also my other 4014

Here's the new, pristine 4014.

Second photo is my older 4014 in a TT Gunleather IWB.

The one in the second photo has a fair amount of holster wear but probably less than 2000 rounds through it. It's my daily carry gun.

By the way, I don't carry it cocked with the safety off. That was just the way it was with an empty mag in it when I went to take the photo.....

Thanks man! Really appreciate the offer, but I think I'll keep the 4014's.

I will be looking for a 3913 NL or LS in the future but have been paying out of state college tuition for 2 kids for some time (1 now graduated)......so unless i find one on some great easy pay or layaway type situation it may have to wait for a few months!

Plus I plan to put a Leupold VX2 on my favorite bolt action deer rifle this fall to replace the old 3x9 that's been on it since 1981.

And there's also Sporting Clays guns and events...........

Those are some of my favorite wood grips on your gun. That's awesome.

Lovely. Since I don't have a box with my little beauty, could you post or PM a photo of the end label on the box. The one that came with mine probably was the same except for S/N because there were only 550 made.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks!

Mine is s/n VBA08xx and the one in the top box VBA09xx. According to my factory letter, mine shipped from S&W in late February 1994. Given that yours has a special ord date of 4025 (Jan 25), it probably shipped around the same time. They were probably in the work room being assembled at the same time. It would be cool to hear them discuss all they saw and experienced there.

It looks like the one in the bottom box was boxed up in around late 1992.

Again, thanks.

Denver:

Thanks!

The top box is my latest one (unfired) and the bottom box is my daily carry gun.

Great info on the dates. I had planned to look those up.

Looks like you served around the same time my cousin Danny Smith did. He was a forward infantry radio man.

Thanks for your service - especially on today's date it's hard not to think about the guys and gals defending our freedoms.

I'd be keeping them too DuckHunter. I've got a 4013 converted to 10mm but it looks like I'll have to have the slide Melonited if I want it black. (something I plan too do)

You might want to consider a 4040PD if you want to stay in caliber:

Same dimensionally as the 39xx LS or NL but more power !

I wonder how many units S&W made of the model 4054? A retiring deputy ('95/'96) friend bought one as his new carry gun. A lightweight 4516 with a .40 cal barrel was my bucket list gun. I just never seem to find one

Wow, what a great find! That LNIB 4014 is sweet. I also like the TT Gunleather holster you show with your daily carry 4014. Thanks for drawing my attention to the holster. I checked TT's website and found their products are perfect for me.

I don't know how to upload photos or add quotes to replies yet, but I'll figure it out soon. That said, Fazer386, there were 154 Model 4054s made according to the SCSW-4Ed.

I think I'll be putting my newly acquired 4054 in a TT Gunleather holster and give my PPS40 a seasonal break.

Tim Thurner (TT Gunleather) is truly a great guy to deal with and makes awesome holsters.

I had a friend with some Rosen and Sparks holsters that told me about TT Gunleather.

I couldn't believe the quality, great price and lack of wait time for a perfect, custom holster.
