Default Model 39-2 & 59

Hoping for some information. I have both a 39-2 as well as a 59, both are nickel plated. My question is ...were the original factory magazines for these also nickel plated? Thanks for responding.

I've never seen 39/59 nickel plated mags, but I'm not saying that there weren't any. Maybe something else in my magazine searches to watch out for.

I got a very different, early nickel 59.
I posted a question about it and included pictures.
It came with a nickel magazine, which now lives in my typical nickel 59.
Not sure it was factory, but it is nickel, and nice.

Default Nickel stock magazines

My first pistol was a new in the box 39-2 in Nickel and it came with two blued magazines . I did buy some more magazines a few years ago that were factory Smith and Wesson and they came in a silver finish that might be nickel my serial number is 6 digits 655xxx I bought it in April 1981 for $313.40 Still have her and like so many of my collection will never sell it . Still one of the best looking guns I have ever shot .

Does the magazine for a 39 also fit the 439, 539, 3913, and all the other 8 round 9mm S&W's?

Magazines for 39/39-2 will fit & function properly in the 439, 539 and 639 pistols. They will also lock in place and function properly in the 3913/3914/908/CS-9 pistols, but they will hang beyond the frame and look odd.

The 9-rd magazines for the 3906/3904 and 952 pistols will also work in ALL of the above listed pistols with a slightly different look as they have a plastic floor plate that looks different than the slim metal floorplate of the earlier 1st & 2nd Gen magazines.

The earlier 8-rd 39/39-2 magazines will not lock in place in the 3906/3904 and 952 pistols, they are a tad bit short.

I have a 14 rd Model 59 magazine that appears to have a nickle finish. The floorplate has only S&W,no 9mm.
The other distinguishing feature of the magazine pictured belowis it has a non ferrous metal follower.
