And it did very good. The balance was perfect, and the w/o rear revolver sight with the ramped red insert front is a nice touch.

Three of us shot it a lot, informally, at varying distances. It was pretty much poa. I made no adjustments because it was right on for me. Towards the end we were all hitting even small pine cones that were some distance away. I don't think Bob Loveless cared much about paper targets, so I refused to "print" in on this first outing.

I wasn't going to shoot it, and I really didn't know what to do with it. I was told by the guy's that knew him, that Bob would want it shot, not put it away somewhere.

Sounds like you have a good one, more close up photos from the sides would be nice, you say no markings, does that include the usual S/N and Model 41 & the S&W markings? Sorry if you explained this in an earlier post as I missed it!

From the pic on that cover I can clearly see some markings on the slide and a small row of serial no"s as well. Are you sure you have this particular handgun?

I am sure I have that particular magazine. It explains in an article what Bob Loveless was doing to S&W 41's back in the day.

I am sure I have the particular pistol posted in the pictures though.

I thought the magazine would be a cool addition. My pistol was made before the 1975 article.

I do believe your gun is older then 1975 due to the colour of the stocks on it but the gun shown on the cover of the magazine does have some markings on it.

I think the original poster, was calling it a "S&W Model 41 with no markings", because it did not have the Loveless etching on the side of the barrel. He was asking the Forum for help identifying it as a Loveless Field Gun Conversion.

No one could/did. I also for some reason assumed it would/should have been etched with the Loveless mark. Turns out Bob etched very few of them. Marcus Lin, (who duplicated one perfectly, and has been a big help to me,) called Jim Merritt this last Wed. and asked Jim about the etching. Jim said Bob etched only their personal ones.

I just tagged onto the original Feb. 2017 post, last week, and have kept continuity by still calling it a S&W 41 with no markings.

I won't bother you all anymore with this. Just thought some would be interested in the rest of the story.
