13-rd Magazines and the 5906
Recently, I purchased an early production 5906. It came with two 13-rd S&W factory magazines with the black polymer followers. I am wondering if early square trigger guard 5906 pistols did ship with 13-rd magazines?

Can you show a picture? I'm definitely no expert on the litany of different S&W factory magazines over the years, but I'm not aware of a 13-rd magazine. I believe even the earliest double stack 9mm S&W mags were 14-rd, were they not?
I'm hoping to learn from this discussion as well.

My early 5906 from 1989 has the original 2 14 round mags with black followers. It is a square trigger guard also

I've only known them to exist in 14 (early) or 15 (later) round iterations.
Perhaps someone can add?

Yeap, the 4 I have are all 14rd with metal floor plates marked S&W.The magazine material and finish varies.
The 14rd mags 1st shipped with the 1st generation Model 59
One that I have has a metal follower that appears genuine

I'm thinking the OP has 14 rounders but just too difficult to insert the 14 cartridge. Just as with some 15 rounders, impossible to get the 15th in.

Could they be special run for some commun... errr, some "safer" state? have you taken them appart yet?? could the previous owner have stuck something under the follower, not letting it depress all the way? :-)

Okay, these are 14-rd magazines, not 13. Sorry for any confusion and giant question marks appearing over your head. So the early square trigger guard 5906's came with the 14's. And yes, this particular 5906 was 'liberated' from the people's republik of Kalifornia. I consider it a small one-up on getting this pistol in that I likely saved it from a torch cutter in the near future. Immaculate factory condition example.

I purchased a square triggered 5903 and it came with black followers on a 14 round marked magazine. I changed the followers to the orange ones and now stuff them each with 15 rounds... thanks to the info from this forum lol
