Default Went to gun show. Came home with 469.

I'm retired, but a few weekends a month I work for the largest FFL in the SE doing gun shows. At the last show in Miami, he had a clean 469, but I have plenty of Gen 3 S&W's, so I didn't buy it. So 3 weeks later, I'm walking around the Ft. Lauderdale show, as he didn't need me, & the 469 is still there. Very clean, 1 mag, no box. $310 out the door. The mag looks factory, but has no markings at all. Ser # A8664##. Good deal? GARY

Very clean, yes I would say so. I think that S&W semi autos are generally undervalued.

Smoking deal and the 469 is a good concealable 9mm.

About five years ago, I bought a 469 for $275 at a gunshow...mainly because it was a gun magazine cover-gun when I was young.
I found I didn't like it at all. Very poor accuracy for me, mainly due to the very bad trigger, both DA and SA.
I regularly shoot a G26, and it shot rings around that 469.
Sold it fairly quickly.

I figure if I need it, it should work just fine at 5 feet. GARY

Although not a huge fan of Smith's first, second or third generation autos, I'd happily pay $310 for one them before dropping $100 for any of their plastic offerings, past or present. I know, more for the rest of you.

Most likely, one wouldn't have to take a 50yd self defense shot...most likely.
But I do enjoy ringing the 50yd 10" plate my club has, with my G26.

I was excited to get the 469, but sometimes you just don't know until you shoot one. I'm accustomed to shooting pretty good groups at 25yds with just about anything. The 469 was a disappointment for me, and I moved it on to someone who, I guess must be happy with Five foot accuracy potential.

Before I ever shot one, I tried to not like the "soulless" S&W autos, but they are perfect carry guns. The two 457's and one 469 that I own are 100% reliable with all ammo that I have used in it. Accuracy means nothing to me in a close quarters weapon, yet all three of them shoot to point of aim (I don't remember group size, nor do I care). I have extra large hands, but all of these compact guns fit fine in my hand.

I am a real fan of the third generation S&W pistols.

$310 seems fair if you want it. I would pay that in a heartbeat. My experience with the 3rd gen Smiths (a 6906, a CS9, and a 908) is that they were as accurate as I wanted out to 15 yds, meaning I could hit a gallon milk jug or a threat's chest as often as I wanted. I could do that with a Glock 26, too, but quickly tired of the plastic and it's trigger. Sorry, but I get along fine with a cocked and locked Colt or traditional DA/SA; I see no need for a trigger with a dingus in it. But that's just me. I have several cop friends who love 'em.

I'm also of the camp that bought a clean, low-miles older 469 to use as a defense gun and price (and my familiarity with S&W 1-2-3rd Gens) were the reasons for purchase.

My 469 was a Gunbroker find. What a steal... final bid was just $235, $20 to ship and $20 to my FFL had this pistol and just one magazine in to my hands.

The trigger is long, heavy and breaks irrationally late -- it feels like you'll begin to squeeze, squeeze some more, continue to squeeze, then you get toward the end and you squeeze more and then more and then a little more and then the shot breaks.

The pistol is accurate when I go very slowly and lay down a group on paper. At defense range, no worries whatsoever. It's given me 100% function in all the FMJ and half a box of Federal HST 124gr JHP that I've run through it.

The ergonomics are, IMO, poor. MANY sharp edges and would benefit from some shaving here and there. The grip is so slippery that it feels like it was carved from a bar of soap.

I bought this pistol to use as my "carry gun" when I am headed somewhere that I may not legally carry. When I know for sure that my plans specifically force me to leave the pistol in the car (to be STOLEN), the 469 is my carry gun on that day. Kids school events, sporting event or concerts, places where the State puts my gun in it's best possible scenario to be ripped off, that's where the 469 exists for me.

I am not in love with this pistol but I love it's capability for the money that I have in it.

Good buy.

The 469 was the first semi-auto I carried off-duty back in 1990. Bought it from a prior Secret Service Agent that guarded Bush 1. Wish I still had it (along with countless others guns I've sold).
