469 grips
When I built my 496, among other features I posted earlier, I also added studs on the frame to accept screws and walnut stocks I made for it. I also blended the frame to match the checkered back strap.

I worked at S&W from the late 70's to the late 80's.
7 years fitting the Mod 52's and about 4 years assembling all of the other semi-autos.

That's right. your the one that was in that string about the M52s and your letter you stamped them with. Speaking of M52s, are the parts compatible between a M52 and a M52-2? I am looking at a M52 to buy. I want the mag, and it'd be nice if the parts were interchangeable? I don't mean to hijack your thread, but you and Sevens are the only guys I know that know their stuff about these masterpieces.

Every part in a mod 52-1 or-2 is specific to each separate gun. No two are really alike. That being said, some parts MAY fit other guns, results may vary. I have not fit 52-1's only A prefix -2's. In my opinion some of the most important areas of an accurate gun are the fit of the frame and slide, barrel and frame, barrel and slide and barrel and bushing and slide stop. Then you get into the lock work and trigger feel/travel and pull weight. I said in an earlier post that I only made maybe on average 12- 13 guns per week. I also had specific fixtures to aid in fitting some of the parts. It was a labor of love building these, I sure miss it.
