My surplus LEO 6906 landed at my LGS and I picked it up today. A rag, some Hoppes, grease, and oil, and it's ready for the range tomorrow.

It was in great shape, clearly not fired much. DA trigger is a bit over 9 pounds and SA is a bit under 5. Very smooth on both. (I've got some Wolf springs coming and thinking of using the 18 pound spring to bring down the DA just a bit.)

New grips arrived before the gun so when the springs arrive I'll replace both.

2 Questions:

1. Anyone have any idea what LCSO is. Gun came from Ohio dealer as police surplus....I'm guessing L is an "L" lettered Ohio county and CSO = County Sheriff's Office? It's pistol #716. The marking was really nicely done....not a ****** electro pencil.

2. I want to put a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight on it (maybe rear as well) instead of the Novaks (olding eyes). Where can I find the right height and width to order....or might someone know?

It's a sweet gun and I compared it to my regular carry -- a Walther 99cAS and they were just about the same size. Smith had a slightly longer grip when compared to the Walther 10 rounder (duh) but exactly the same with the 99AS 15 rounder in. The Walther does have a better trigger 8 lbs in DA and 4 in SA....but its really close. Weight is different, of course, with plastic vs alloy.

In Ohio, both Lake County and Lorain County use the four letter "LCSO" designation, but just becausr an Ohio gun dealer had it for sale doesn't necessarily mean it was issued in Ohio.

Other have better experience with replacement springs than I do, but I can tell you that an aftermarket, reduced power hammer spring in a 4006 gave me occasional double-action FTF's and so, for an actual carry gun... I wouldn't even consider. Just my opinion.

It did. I had one of those. Emailed the seller who told me they were all from Lucas County Sheriffs Office.

Did it come with three magazines?

It's a wonderful sidearm, a perfect compromise carry weapon. I been carrying mine most days since 1994. Whenever the opportunity arises and I'm out in an appropriate place, I like to pull it and send all 12 Federal HST's downrange and reload with fresh. It has passed that test every time for 23 years. Man, that sounds like an old "sales detail." Joe
