Can somebody with a 3913, 3914, or 908 post a measurement from the bottom of the trigger guard down to the bottom of the magazine for me (I'm trying to estimate my grip), when you have a minute? I'll appreciate it.
Also, did the 3913/3914's all come with the ambi-safety, or was that an option? It looks like the "Lady" and NL did not have them.
I've seen pictures of them with flat bottomed magazines and also with a "pinky hook". Did they come with one of each or...?
Thanks.

3913LS (approx) 60mm pinky, 55mm flat - pistols came with one of each.
LS/NL had single sided safety.

Sorry, Welshman.
I guess I thought somebody else had this.
From the bottom of the trigger guard to the tip of the finger rest mag is: 2 7/16 inches.
For the flat base mag: 2 1/4 inches.
To the bottom of the grip frame without a mag: 1 7/8 inches.
I hope this helps.

3914 and railed 3953TSW.
Both are the same frame size and take the same magazines.

I found a 908 at a gun show today and was disappointed. The grip's a bit short but the trigger guards edge, where it meets the grip is a bit sharp, and digs into my middle finger. A little bit of work with a dremmel may take care of that to smooth the radius, but I really don't want to go that route.
On the 908 thread, Fastbolt says that the 3913/14's have "nicely radiused corners" compared to the 908's. Does anybody know if the trigger guard area is radiused differently than the 908? I can't tell from the pictures I've seen.
Thanks.

Yes, the 3913/14's have a bit more finishing done to them in addition to the 908's.

Does the 3914 mag fit the CS9? If so, how much of a gap is there between the top of the mag base and the bottom edge of the grip?

Yes,3914 8rd mags fit the CS9,all my S&W 9mm single stack mags(7rd,8rd,9rd) have the catch slot at the same dimension from the top of mag.
The 8rd 3914 mag has a 1/4" gap in a CS9.

Thanks for that. I wish I had thought of that when I looked at your gun. Maybe the CS9 is back in the mix.

As an owner of several of these pistols, I sure do like a smooth gun:

Can anyone answer about the ambi-safety and the mags?

have to be a 9?
If you're not dead set against 40sw check out the 4040PD, a 3rd gen Scandium Air Lite . I just bought a 40 shield and when I laid it next to my 4040 they are so close dimensionally that it is surprising, flat bottom or pinky grip mags. It's not as light as a shield but light for an all metal gun, single stack and a great shooter. Expect to pay upwards of $700 on GB but I like it so well that I bought another one. Takes its own magazine but Brownells have factory mags for less than $40.

I've read, on a different thread, that the 908 is different from the 3913/3914 in that at least it has a "squarer slide". This seems to be borne out by the fact that the 908 that I handled, didn't fit my holster. I had thought that since the 908 didn't "fit me", that the 3913/3914 wouldn't either, but now I guess that's not the case. The search continues...

Well I just got back from two weeks in the Florida panhandle. Went to a gun show, three pawn shops, and three gun stores, and still haven't been able to wrap my hand around a 3913/3914, but the vacation was nice.

Got it!
Drove a 5 hour round trip today and picked up what seems to be a very nice 3913. I haven't shot it yet but will later on this week. And bonus - it fits my holsters.

Good for you! I have a few holsters that do double duty with my 39-2s and 3913 or 6906s i have a 4" slide and barrel on one of the 6906 pistols and it shares a holster designed for a 5906. Congratulations on you purchase. By the way, midway has an outrageously good deal on 39xx mags right now.

Thanks. I see the flat based mags are on sale for $26.24, but they're listed as "out of stock - no back-order". I think I'll wait for the "pinky hook" models to go on sale.
By the way, I want to "publically" thank oldman10mm. He knew I was looking for a gun that I could actually put my hands on and sent me the link to this one.
Also, thanks to everyone on this thread who has helped me pick out the right gun for me.

Can you provide a link to what you're talking about, please? The ones I'm seeing on their website are $34.99 each. I don't think that's anything special pricing wise.

The good price is on the magazine that is noted as "Out of Stock, No Backorder". I'd take that as a computer glitch.
Other than that, there are clearance prices, but not on any 3rd Gen magazines. Too bad.

Look around online for the baseplates only. I seem to remember buying a few awhile back. You can always switch them back and forth.

I took my 3913 to the range today and was very pleased. The little extra weight made it much easier to shoot than my Shield, especially on double and triple taps. Much closer to how my 39-2 is.
The range I went to (first time) is brand new. Good ventilation, temperature controlled, "computerized" lanes, and very clean. It even had hand wipe dispensers at the lanes. Much cooler than what I'm used to. I can shoot at home, but at 14 degrees today, it wouldn't have been much fun.
