M639 box
Anyone have a picture of a box for an early M639? I need to know what I am looking for. Thanks, Big Larry

I believe the 639 came out a bit later than the 439 and 539 - more like 1984. Here is a period Bangor Punta box from March of 1984.

My 659 is almost a year newer than yours , spec ord 5046 , and it's a Lear Siegler box . What a difference a year makes eh ? I bought it here from another member and inside was the original bill of sale , $350.15 out the door .

My # A 838433, was shipped 6-83. has the fixed rear sight and rounded trigger guard. I guess that is what is called an early model.
I bought it for my collection and doubt I will ever shoot it. Just like to get a proper box.
Thanks all for steering me in the right direction. Big Larry

A802xxx (as does A849xxx) has a one piece Bangor Punta box but still has two 10 digit product codes instead of the 6 and 10 so you're definitely looking for a one piece Bangor Punta.

My NIB 639 is in a one piece Bangor Punta box with a 10 digit product code. The serial number is 220 earlier than yours. The first time I opened that box, to me, it was almost breath taking. I have an older 39-2 for shooting, this one won't be!

I love these oldsters. I have only a single 2nd Gen with an A-prefix serial number. It's a Model 469 with an A845xxx serial number and I do not have a box for it. I believe it's from 1984, but I'm not even sure S&W would have a date for me. Maybe I should ask them.
