Default S&W Model 41 22 rimfire

New in box unfired factory fresh condition 5 inch barrel. Box and all paper work. Made in 1965. What is it worth?

Rogeringa Welcome to the Forum from Canada. I would think the value will be between $850.00 to around $1100.00 depending on overall condition of it. Pictures are enjoyed greatly on here and are worth about a 1000 words of description as well. They are a very Beautiful gun to shoot and one of the finest target guns in the world. CCI SV is the recommended food for this gun.

I would think a 5" barrel would be worth a premium since they sell by themselves around $500. As Barrie indicated, pictures are your best course of action to get a value estimate as condition means everything...

Welcome Rogeringa that's an interesting handle. Let me say that Barrie has hit the nail on the head. Pictures are worth a thousand words. So let's have a look at this new piece of yours. Pictures tell all and will certainly go a long way in helping to evaluate your newly acquired Model 41.

I don't know where the guys are getting $1100 from...
A true NIB with 5" barrel from 1965 would be an easy $1500+.

Default Model 41

Up here in the Peoples Republic that 41 would easily go $1500 to $1800, probably closer to 18 than 15. I saw one at a LGS last week, no box or docs in about 95% + condition and the asking price was $1750

Asking price doesn't necessarily equal selling price. One of the best price references is to search GB's sold auctions.

Is it a 5" field barrel or the 5.5 inch heavy barrel, there is a big difference in the answer. I think that even with the 5.5 inch barrel the days of 1100 dollars for one in that condition is gone. Take a look at the sold prices on Rockisland auctions and you will see a higher price or if you think that Rockisland is on the high side take a look at sold auctions and you will get a good idea of price. As one of the other persons said the asking price does not always mean what something is worth. My guess (which with 5 bucks will get you a cheep burger or an over priced coffee) is that if it is a 5.5 inch barrel your looking at 1300-1500 dollars and if it is a 5 inch field barrel 1500-2000 dollars. Pictures would help and good luck if you decide to sell. I have a 41 and I will not sell it unless I am no longer able to shoot it.

Rogerina without pics we cannot give you a more accurate answer. As you have also seen it depends on where the buyer is also as to the final price that it would sell for.I am in Canada and our market is different then yours as well.
