Default Fair price

Have a opportunity to purchase a 1972 version of the model 41. It's in very good condition but the seller doesn't know what is a fair price . Any info on this issue would be appreciated and respected. Thank you for your consideration.

How many magazines does the gun come with?? They are not cheap themselves so any additional will add to value. I am not an expert on these models but wI'll take a stab at pricing. I think $12000 range would be a fair estimate with only one magazine. Anything under that would sweeten deal or additional mags. A search on completed guns sold on gb shows them going for between $1200 to $1700 recently.

Wow that’s one heck of a price for a model 41.

I just saw a few at a local gun show today , no box no paper work with one magazine, they were sitting on the tables for $900. these were shorter barrels I think , but in 98-99% condition. I think a fair price for your package would be $1050 - $1150.

I would think between $850.00 to $1150.00 for one in good shape with the box and two mags where I live. I see it has the correct grips on it and the muzzle brake as well. It may go for slightly higher as it has the 7" barrel on it as well. Usually the 5.5" barrels go for slightly more but the 7" barrels are nice shooters as well. Looks like it has been cared for in the pic.

With all original accoutrements and in 95% - 98% condition I'd say $1,000 - 1,150 is fair. IMHO the old ones are just better! Even though the M41 has remained mostly the same over the years, they have cheapened the once solid Walnut Grips to Laminated Plywood style now, and the deep Roll Marks of yesteryear are now Laser Engraved I believe. The older style magazines are also thicker, more robust, more reliable and easily disassemble for cleaning if necessary. The 1972 vintage should also have a cocking indicator which while not essential is a really cool feature.

The Bluing on the new version is OK, but they do NOT have the deep blue finish the older ones do. S&W can no longer use the same Chemicals (due to environmental reasons - so they say) therefore the deep blue finish you use to be able to "crawl into" is gone on the newer ones.
