Tecknikle Question
If you were to attempt to remove the right hand side safety on a CS45 and put the flat cover over the hole, what would you call the part you were ordering to do so?
Does that make sense?

It doesn't make sense to me, Iggy, because besides the fact that I would not remove the decocker I have not a clue what you would stick into that empty space. I didn't even know you could permanently remove the decocker but it seems eminently possible for folks who are handy and don't like that thing. It's my favorite thing on my TDA pistols.

Actually...
The flat side that you see on the right side of a 2nd or 3rd Gen with single side decocker is an entire "single side only" unit.
You can remove the ambi unit from your CS-45 and replace it with a single side unit. But there is no "cap" you can purchase to do this job.

The body of the "unit" is usually called the safety barrel. They are not intended to be drop in parts but might drop in without fitting. I'll bet more owners have gone the other way and switched safety barrels to add the ambidextrous feature. If I'm right there likely are single side safety barrels collecting dust in retired armorer's parts boxes. You might find one cheap with a wanted to buy ad.

Brownell's or Numrich has them sometimes, they are not priced at what I would call "cheap." Best bet is to offer a swap with another forum member.
Removing the safety "barrel" isn't difficult... but you must be comfortable tinkering with guns.

OK, Thanks guys.. I don't know that I would be willing to try it myself, but that gives me a place to start.

In years gone by, it used to be a somewhat common occurrence that folks carrying concealed would have a Gun Smith grind the right side of the part so it was flush with the frame.
Look at my 1014 as it comes around and you will see one that this one has been modified in that fashion.
I have since fitted a new Ambi safety in place since it aids in the grip on the slide when cycling the action.

I guess it's not hurting anything, although I do carry it concealed.
It's the widest part of the gun and adds a good 1/4" to the width of the gun.
When you're as wide as I am, every little bit counts.

I very much prefer a single sided safety on every one of my S&W pistols.

IIRC someone posted pictures of a 3913 with the right side lever removed by the gunsmith Chestnut Mountain Sports. Not sure if they still do this work.
