Default Model 41 info needed please

Hi
I ran across a very early model 41 today. I do not have all the info as of yet. Here is what I have. It is presented to me as having a long barrel with brake. It is supposed to be made in 1958 but as of yet I do not have the serial number. The model number is on the left side of the frame so that seems to match and there are no relief cuts behind the trigger so that appears correct as well.

The problem I see is that the barrel is drilled and tapped for the scope bridge. My info says they did not do this at the factory until much later. Can someone please confirm this or did they indeed tap the early barrels as well?

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks Graydog

It's my understanding that S&W drilled and tapped the Model 41 starting in 1994. If the Model 41 you refer to was made in 1958, it wouldn't have been drilled and tapped back then.

The relief cut was done from 1959 and the serial moved in 1961
With the 7 3/8" barrels, there were none factory drilled for a scope.

Let us know the serial No. of this gun as we will date it for you. I also have a 1958 year M41.
