3566 Briley Comp
I have some questions about Product Code 17037. If you look in this chart, it gives the specs:
The Complete 3rd Gen PERFORMANCE CENTER Model List
In the notes it says "M-356 Chassis Export, BRI Prefix
What does the Chassis Export mean.
Did it come from the factory looking like this? Any information would be appreciated.

That's what they looked like. Something like a 102 made all BRI prefix. I ended up using a lighter recoil spring and light loads for center fire Bullseye competition.

Thanks for the reply, just picked up one last week.
Any idea on what was meant by the "Export Chassis" nomenclature?
What load and bullet are you shooting for Bullseye and what is the approximate velocity?
By the way, I am a fellow Iowan from Davenport.

I'll venture a guess.
S&W built most of the pistol and sent it to Briley for their modifications.
John?

That was my guess also but I thought that someone here might have seen that term used before. Thanks.

I received an email from Lew Horton on the 3566 Comp. They were not a Lew Horton exclusive although Lew Horton had 26 of the 102 produced.
They had them in 1995 and 1996. My particular pistol was purchased from the retail store that Lew Horton operated at the time in December of 1996.

I'm using a 105gr.coated lead TC bullet in a 9x19 case that runs right at a 1,000fps. Requires a 8# spring to cycle but works well for me. Approaching 4K rounds shot and have not had any problems with the shorter case.

I always thought that the extractor would probably hold the cartridge but I have never tried it.
Do you use the comp or did you remove it?
I removed the mount this morning to clean and lube my pistol(lots of loctite). I was going to remove the comp but I have decided not to at this time.
It is kind of a clumsy system, have you figured out a better way?

I've never removed the comp, just use a lot of Gunscruber to hose out debris after cleaning. I have shot 9x19 through all my 356s' the compact required removing the inner spring to cycle. A good cleaning of chamber afterwards. The 356 Federal Hydra-Shok 147gr actually ran out the same as regular 9mm +P @ 1020fps.

How do clean and lube your pistol, take the mount off each time?
How often are you cleaning it?

I never remove the mount, just the slide racker and the safety body. I can usually get through Bullseye season(700-800rds) before I need to take it down for a good cleaning. By that time I want to remove the firing pin anyway and clean out that channel. During our league I just use a Bore Snake and clean it as best I can without a take down.

OK, I was wondering about removing the safety. I have never done that with the slide on the frame.
I guess I will check out the video on that again, thanks.

I checked the assembly video on line and went through it with my gun and I see how to remove the safety with the slide on. I just have never done it that way.
Thanks and shoot straight.
