Thanks for pointing out yet another gun shop within driving distance. I've never heard of them and I suspect TTSH has been holding this one out on me!

Here are the pictures of the trigger that came today. If it's a TDA trigger and you're interested PM me.

Sorry, guys.

That is a DOA trigger, (probably from an earlier 4046) forged and flash chromed.

The give-away is the "hump" on the rear of the trigger just below the hooks.
The TDA trigger "hump" would be more pointed than rounded and have a flattened top.

Thanks.

To quote "Blazing Saddles", "Hump, what hump?"

Good to know. I'll put the trigger away for future sale or use or something.

I'm getting old, but isn't that what Igor (Marty Feldman) said to Dr Fronk-on-steen (Gene Wilder) in "Young Frankenstein" when asked if his "hump" was on the other side?

John?

John's right about the DAO trigger.

Also, something else to keep in mind is that if you compare machined triggers from a 59XX and a 391X, the single stack 9 triggers have a thinner trigger (side-to-side) than the double stack guns originally did. (Well, the 59XX/69XX guns we got in '89/'90, anyway.)

The MIM triggers are uniformly thin, as I recall.

Hey guys, what about this one? Says it’s for 3953, but isn’t this a TDA trigger?

Gimme a few minutes. I just took some pics of some machined triggers, which I'll have to send to myself and then post on my imaging service, and then I'll post here ...

Okay, here are some pics of some older machined (NOT MIM) triggers.

Hopefully, these will help illustrate some differences between the DAO v. TDA triggers, and then the wide v. narrow triggers.

You can click on all the pics to make them even larger.

I left the pic orientation rotated so the largest image perspectives are shown.

First, here's 3 machined, flash-chromed triggers. One of them is DAO and the other 2 are TDA. (If the hint doesn't help, the DAO trigger is in the middle. )

Here's a couple of older TDA machined, flash-chromed triggers. The wide one is the "top" trigger. See how the sides are totally flat/even from top to bottom? The bottom one has a narrow trigger. See how there's a machined step "inward" making the trigger face narrow on the bottom?

Different angles of wide/narrow triggers.

In this pic the narrow trigger is on the top.

Okay, now that you can see the differences, can you pick out the TDA wide/narrow and the DAO/narrow trigger in this small mix of older machined & MIM triggers?

Sneaky trick question for bonus points. Can you tell which 3 of the 4 black triggers are MIM?

The way the light reflects from the black triggers, it makes it difficult to see the MIM mold marks on 1 of the triggers (top black 1 of pic).

The machined blue trigger is left of (below) the DA trigger.

I've put back a few over the years for my personal armorer kit. I help support some 3rd gen guns belonging to some friends, as well as my own (more than half a dozen), so I've slowly added to my parts collection over time against the need for a potential future repair.

I just made another order of more than $100 earlier today for some more 3rd gen parts, filling some small holes, light spots and "wearable" springs in my parts kits.

So I know the wide trigger will fit in my CS9, but will it feel off due to the angle of my trigger finger along the thin grips? I’m assuming that’s why they machined it down thinner

Good question.

I remember how the wide trigger that originally came in my early production issued 6906 felt different than the narrow trigger in my own later production 3913. Having put a lot of rounds downrange with both, I easily decided I preferred the narrower trigger. (For rapid shot strings and demanding training drills, anyway.)

I no longer remember why it was said (to us in armorer classes) that the wide triggers eventually gave way to the narrower triggers being used across the board, meaning in both the double stack and single stack guns. If you look at the wide and narrow triggers in a gun, though, and how that little extra bit of "thinness" might reduce the chance of the trigger encountering some part of the holster (like a wide trigger shoe sometimes could), I wouldn't be surprised if someone might've thought a thinner trigger might reduce the potential for holster interference with the trigger face. Dunno, though.

The last parts list I got showed the same TDA MIM triggers as being current for old and newer models (as the older machined triggers, both blue & flash-chromed, became phased out and obsolete), in all the 3rd gen calibers. Even the double column 4006/4013TSW's & 4506/66/13TSW's use the narrow triggers now (if one has to be replaced). Part #262190000.

FWIW, those are the only narrow machined triggers I have. I do have more of the machined, wide flash-chromed triggers than I grabbed for those pics, but they're "used". New/unused machined triggers and hammers are becoming very difficult to find.
