I bought this many years ago and can't bring myself to shoot it.

I would have to agree. Send me the gun along with a $50.00 handling fee and I'll take the ugly duckling off your hands!

You could put a new slide and frame on it and it would be a great shooter!

These other guys are trying to take advantage of you...I'll send YOU $50 to cover the shipping and you'll have no worries as I won't shoot it either!
A beauty!

I think it needs to be deactivated. That way you won't feel embarrassed showing it to people.

If you send it to me I will pay the postage and charge you 000. I would also put some nice white pearl grips on it and then hide it in one of my safes so no-one could ever see it but me.

I'm ashamed of all the guys trying to trick you into giving them your gun!
If you ship it to me, along with a USPS money order for $125, I'll buff it back to original condition and send it right back. Nobody'll ever know how messed up it was.

I appreciate all the posts. I also appreciate all the offers to help me deal with this dilemma. I have decide to keep it and seek therapy. Maybe I will get the courage to shoot it and use it as a truck gun and just throw it in the glove box.

Forge the glove box, in the tool box or under the seat.

As a lover of the Model 39 I must say you have perhaps the sweetest 39 I've ever seen. I agree with another poster that you need some fancy white grips for your BBQ gun.
Where was it engraved? Factory or aftermarket?
I'm dying for more information.

dddddmorgan,
I bought this in the early 1970's from a local dealer and locked it up. About 10 years ago I pulled it out and realized it was not factory engraved. The distributor for my local dealer was Microsight, located in Belmont CA.
I phoned them to see if I could find out who did the work. No employees from that time period were working there. I did learn that back then, they had Japanese engravers do engraving for them.
At some point, I will remove the stocks and maybe replace them with something fancy. At that point I will see if the engraver left any of his info under the stocks.

My 39 isn't engraved, but it is an early one and a single gun sent to Sweden as a test gun, and still looks unfired. I've had it for over a year and couldn't bring myself to shoot it (it has the long extractor and I was afraid of it breaking and none were available to replace it). I just received my Jack First replacement extractor, and now I'm going to shot it.

One of these days I will get to the point where I can pick something up and just stash it away.
I'm still at the "if I have it I shoot it" phase. ;-)

This is truly an Ugly gun but would look great with my 24 gun collection of 39's which include a pre 39 factory engraved gun that's even uglier than yours. Disregard all the other posers and send it my way so it can join it's long lost family.

I think a ugly gun like that should be hidden in the far reachs of cold old Canada. We have gazillions of tree's up here to hide it in or choose nice wood stocks for it. WE even have many many miles of rocks and hidding places as well. I am sure we could fit it in somewhere and only shoot it on our Birthday.
