Magazine for a model 6904
So I won an auction for what looks like a nice 6904. Problem is it comes with no magazine. I've looked around online and can't seem to find any retailers who stock them. Even looked on the S&W website, nope. There are some extended 15 rounders on the auction site, but I'd rather go with factory originals. I'm asking for some dierction from you guys. I'll put an ask in the wanted to buy section soon if no one has any other ideas. Thanks guys!

Same magazine as was used for 469,569, 669, 6906 etc.
the 15 round magazines are most likely for any 5900 series guns...they fit the 6900 series guns but protrude past the grip frame.

Recently, there was a seller on FleaBay/GunBroker/GunAuction.com that was selling 10/12 round mag's for the 6946 (same mag body as the 469, 569, 669, 6904, 6906 ...) at about $25.00 per mag. I bought several. All were electro penciled on the base with what I guess was a IBN.

12 round mags are the standard and are usually easy to find. Google is your friend. If you need 10 round mags you run into a little more trouble. These are harder to find and more expensive. Both of the above types are OEM S&W.
Mecgar does make after market mags that work well and are around $25. Avoid Promag mags as they dont have a good reputation for functionality.

There are some on Gun Broker right now. As others have said, the standard capacity round for them is 12.
If all else fails, you can PM me and we can probably work something out.

I recently bought 3 x 12 round mags, and could get by with 2. Let me know if you run into trouble finding one and I can help you out.

I bought a 6904 around the first of the year and it only had one mag. As luck would have it, someone posted 3 for sale here on the forum. They still pop up every now and then, and almost always on the famous auction site.
I have some 59 series mags, but I need to buy a couple of those spacers they make to fill the gap when inserted into the 69 series guns. Post up a photo when you have time. They are great carry guns!

There are both 12 round and 10 round factory mags out there. I got a couple new in the box factory mags at a gun show recently. I think I got some from CDNN recently also.

Always hoping for the best, but wishing to be prepared for the very worst, I'm still seeking 10-round 6900-series magazines. They seem to be the hardest 3rd Gen magazines to find right now at a decent price.

It appears that Mec-Gar is still manufacturing a 10 round magazine for the 6900 series handguns.

I have not seen those listed for sale anywhere. Are you talking about a brand new Mec-Gar product? Or are you talking about the ones that Robertson makes from Mec-Gar 5900-series 10-round magazines?

Keepshooting.com has aftermarket mags for a really good price. I have 3 and no problems at all.

Mec-Gar makes 10 rd mags for the 59xx/915 full size guns...... not the shorter grip 69xx guns......................
that said; if you can get some +2 adapters..... you could use them as extra range or carry mags in a 10 rd restricted state

That's what I thought.

You lost me there Bam. Are you saying that the PGS adapters will work on the 5900-series 10-round Mec-Gar magazines? I don't think so.

I don't know about the PGS adapters but the Smith & Wesson +2 adapter won't work.
It is held on by the base plate and the Mecgar 10 rounder has a weird mag base.

Be happy that you've never had to deal with crippled mags. Hope you never have to.
I'm going to stick with genuine S&W OEM 10-round magazines for my 6906 contingency supply... even if I've got to pay more to get them. It makes no sense (to moi) to use S&W OEM 5900-series 10-round magazines with adapters... or to use Mec-Gar 5900-series 10-round magazines at all.
As for those (Mec-Gar cut down) Robertson 6900-series 10-round magazines, they can go jump in the lake. I'll do business with Robertson sometime after He!! freezes over solid. Can you tell that I am not a fan?

Here is a Mecgar 10 round 5900 mag in my 6906.
Also a picture of a S&W 5900 mag with +2 adapter next to a Mecgar 5900 10 round mag.
I have to use the Mecgars in my Keltec Sub 2000 or I would just cut the bottom off of it to fit my 6906. It looks like it is solid plastic so it would be easy to put some sort of base plate on it if you needed.
They are around $20 and readily available.
Better than nothing!

Just to be clear, when the stuff finally hits the fan hard here in MA and even pre-ban hi-caps become illegal with a "life prison sentence for possession" (same as for bump stocks), I will have no choice but to go with Mec-Gar 5900-series 10-round magazines for my 9mm full-size double-stack 3rd Gens. I have a small number of S&W OEM 5900-series 10-rounders, but not nearly enough if 10-rounds is to become the only legal option. I'm actually very glad that Mec-Gar is still making them.
My bigger problem will be with my 6900-series pistols... and that's where I say that it makes no sense (to moi) to go with full-size 10-rounders in compact pistols regardless of magazine brand... hence, my continuing search for 6900-series 10-round magazines. Except for the Robertson cut downs, that means finding more S&W OEM 6900-series 10-rounders regardless of cost.
The Robertson cut downs probably work fine, but I'm going to stick with S&W OEMs if I can find enough of them.

Where can you get the spacers for the 59xx mags to use on a 69xx?

You can get them on that big auction website or go direct to the manufacturer:
Precision Gun Specialties

6900 series S&W stainless 12 rd mags
If anyone is still looking for 6900 Series Original S&W stainless 12 rd mags (used), there are three still available as I am writing this on auction from this seller, starting bid at $24.99 and $5 shipping. I won one yesterday 04/25/18 at $24.99:

Lets hope that never happens! but maura healey(MA Attorney general )can be a real moody feline!!!!!
I live in Taxachusetts as well and I have found some OEM 5900/6900 series magazines for sale on this site and on gunbroker. I have some OEM 5900-series 10-rounders that I found on Ebay. If you have some free time to surf the internet, then you will find some and for not a lot of $$ considering how they aren't made anymore by S&W.

Since I wrote that post 6 months ago, I've improved my worst case fallback position with a couple more OEM 6900-series 10-rounders. They certainly weren't cheap, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. And while I'm not a fan of the Mec-Gar 5900-series 10-rounders, I added some of them as well. They don't cost a lot so what the heck.
The question, in our crazy moonbat state, is how much to hedge vs. how much to just sit back and wait, recognizing that Maura despises us, but most of her power of intimidation is over the dealers, not the individual licensed gun owners.
The truth is that the powers that be in our loony moonbat state kinda like things the way they are where fear and uncertainty are tools they can use against us. Eliminating the pre-ban exemption was a bridge too far for them last time around. It could stay that way for a long time to come... or it could be gone tomorrow like bump-stocks with a life-in-prison penalty for maximum intimidation.
