First non-revolver Smith. Thinking this will be my CCW.

Not a lot of info on the 9mm 3” so I’ll submit a range report after my range outing.

Might be a few weeks. My back got jacked up from what is a 30+ year old injury!!! I'll be happy to help out. There is very little info out there for this gun, so I would like to benefit others who are in the market.

Until range time. Slide rack's nice. Fit and finish is really good. Grips felt a bit aggressive. Sights are OK, but I can see them being replaced. Seemed a little heavier than the 26 oz. advertised, but should work for CCW. My Walther PPQ is advertised at 26 oz. but the S&W feels heavier, and sturdier. Poly vs Scandium. I'm going to throw it on the scale and see what it weighs loaded. Came with 2 extra springs.

I have a couple of S&W snubbie revolver's I was considering, 586 L Comp & 627 PC, but I think this is the way to go.

This looks like a really nice gun. For some reason, it's really not getting any press--would love to hear more about it.

Ok, its taken a month but finally made it to the range today. I REALLY like this gun.

- fits my small hand really well. NOTE: my shooting bud has large hands and he liked the fit. If you have big meat hooks you may want to try it in person.
Pro's
- really smooth racking and shooting.
- accurate right out of the box. We both stayed within the ring around, and even a couple in the bullseye at 7 yards.
- great grip texture.

Cons
-when I picked it up at the LGS one of the mags would not engage. Had the same problem today. It dawned on me to mark the mag to see if its the mag not the mechanism in the frame.
- haven't weighed it yet. But seems heavier than advertised. But it's light enough for CC.
- being compact the controls seemed closer together. I've got 1911's with larger barrels so it's only a matter of getting used to it. Not really a negative.

Not cheap but a really nice gun. If your looking for a small 1911 style gun you should consider this one.

Ok ran another 100 rounds through it today.

Everything I mentioned in my first post still holds. And I like it even more. Also, the magazine seating issues I had before never happened at all today. Paid more attention to the trigger and it’s very 1911 like. Minimal travel and nice break.

Brought my 586 L-Comp also, as I’m “auditioning” them for a CCW. I like the 586, but the front sight really sucks especially against a black target. Needs a red dot, maybe a better grip.

I really enjoy the 1911 PS. I highly recommend if your lookin for a CCW. Now to find a nice leather holster.

Finally weighed it, and it’s as advertised 26 oz. with an empty magazine. Got a holster too. Got a leather and sharkskin pancake style from Winthrop Leather here in CLE.
