Default S&W 422 value?

Hello All. What's an excellent condition, no box/papers, Model 422/4"bbl sell for around you guys/gals? Buddy has a line on one, said the seller has extra Factory mags as well. I have a 2214 I won't part with, as well as extra Factory mags for it, which are fetching ridiculous prices, IF you can find them. Are the 422 mags hard to find as well? Pricey? I told him I'd ask the S&W guys on the forum. Thanks for any info.

$350-375 and mags are about $35-40ish and easy to find.

They use the same mags as the S&W Mod 41.

There are a couple differences in 422’s. The fixed rear sight pistol is less desirable than the adjustable sight. I think the style of grips you got may have been paired with the sight.

The magazines have a nuance that should be mentioned. The earlier guns came with 12-round magazines identified easily by the orange follower. Later guns were 10-round limited, but both magazines do cross with the Model 41.

The 422 is a neat and fun gun — the finish is NOT durable and the price often hinges on the condition of that finish.

The 4-inch gun is probably less sought after than the 6-inch… it’s pretty homely.

A 6-inch 422 I was watching just sold on GB for $500, like NIB. I have two 4-inchers and keep looking for a 6-inch. I would have picked it up, as I thought the price was fair, but I already have two h/g’s waiting at the FFL …
