Default LNIB 5906 sold $820

One just sold on “that” auction site watched it for a week. Nice clean adjustable sight example with original box and paperwork. 3rd Gens, especially good examples are getting respect. So those $700 new guns at Cabelas weren’t that far out of line.

As the 3rd gens wear out/break/parts no longer available and more and more shooters want the 3rd,2nd,1st gens,we're gonna wish for those $800 prices.

This is the golden age of S&W classic automatic collecting. They're available in excellent shape and reasonably priced. I wish I had gotten a 1006 sooner, I'll pay for one and have buyers regret for a short time.

if plastic toys sell for 700, anything below 2000 American dollars is a fair price for a 3rd gem..

There is a good looking Model 6946 for sale near me (but, unfortunately, across the state line) at an incredible $625.00 with factory box and one 10-round magazine.

Mama Mia! That's some spicy (and very expensive) meatball!!!

I'd love like heck to own it, but add shipping, transfer fee(s), possibly CT sales tax (?) and one spare mag and I'm looking at $700+.

Prices for 3rd Gens at our most recent MA gun show were also sky high... so high, in fact, that I didn't even bother posting a show report. No one would have believed it.

BTW, the Model 6946 in question is listed on a certain well-known "List of Arms" just in case anyone here with deep pockets (well, deeper than mine at least!) is interested.

I have been saying this forever,

The days of reasonable priced gen 2 smiths are long gone.

A 5906 for 800 dollars is lol, I bought a 6906 used for 300aeound 8 years ago. Hard to believe this market is at this point.

I can see LNIb shorty 40s and 1076s going for around 2 grand funny times

Depends......chance and luck will still get you some good deals.............

I bought an anib 6906 for $300 last winter (17) and a equally nice 6904 for $270.

S&W was having their Shield sale and the first gen M&Ps were being replaced with the 2.0 guns.......so while I was ''not " buying any more guns....... well ..... I was weak!!!!! Also bought a "used" M&P-9 for $300 ..... new ones were selling/marked at $525.

For the most part I don't think most guns get shot enough to "wear them out"... still a lot of 39s from the 60s and 70s. Heck I found an "unfired" pre-39 about 10 years ago......

In all likelihood I'll carry a 3rd gen to "the end of days"; glad I've got a backup to my back up......... and at less than $300 a copy!!!!!

It's that Pennsylvania thang, isn't it.

Funny thing is that by the time your PA guns get shipped up here, they somehow appreciate in price by 50-100%.

Anyway, luck is something that I don't have... unless you are talking about bad luck, of course.
