Default S&W 6906

I recently acquired a police trade in 6906. Its overall in very good condition. It has some holster wear here and there but nothing major. I was wondering if theres any way to touch up the spots on the frame? I know its an anodized silver/gray finish, just dont know what to use to do touch ups. I love the double action pull on it, I honestly like it better than alot of my striker fired handguns.

S&W might refinish it. But I would own the wear, the history. With a worn weapon you never worry about it getting scratched or scuffed. Pretty guns are for barbecues.
Enjoy your 6906. I love my 6904. Replace recoil and mag springs and you’re good to go.

Unless the finish is really worn and beaten up, I would not go to the trouble and expense of having the original anodizing removed, then re-anodized.

Honestly I was looking to see if it was anything I could try to finish myself. Ive refinished a few rifles and handguns with very good results. Kinda like getting an old 68 Dodge D100 and restoring it. I have a few handguns that are beat up and rough around the edges, so I get that. If its something that only S&W could refinish then I'll just leave it as is.

Default Finish Alternative

Maybe Cerakote or duracoat?

If it is a carry pistol, I would not worry about the finish as long as it functions properly. As others have said "Character".

I recently spiffed mine up with a coat of Cerakote. I used this on an aluminum frame 1911 LW commander last year and it held up well.

Congrats on the 6906. If you like the DA trigger on that pistol, you'll love the action on a 6946 DAO.

S&W Performance Center gunsmithing will refinish the frame for $150, add another $110 for the slide...

Just remember anodizing not only colors but also HARDENS the surface. If you strip the anodizing and then just paint it will wear faster.

Painting over the anodizing would be the best way to do it.
