Default Will I notice a big difference if I do this?

Hey,

The Hougue grips on my Model 915 just don't feel right for me. They feel "okay," but I think the more slender original S&W grips will work a lot better for me.

I have average size hands.

Has anyone here gone from Hogues on a 915 to the original S&W grip configuration or vice versa?

And if so, how did you find the difference?

Thank you.

I guess I'll sell the Hogues for $15 plus $3 shipping. Is that a fair price?

Not on a 915 but on a 4013TSW. The Hogues were just too big for my medium sized hands. I put the factory grips back on and it was much improved. I was constantly re-adjusting my grip with the Hogues after each shot. With the factory grips, my grip remains constant.

I tried Hogues and the OEM Delrins and did go back and forth switching them.

The solution I found which works best, for me, is the curved back strap OEM grip, with a Hogue rubber grip sleeve over it. Gives me the control I need while filling my hand just right. Give it a try. I think you will be pleased. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

Yes, you will feel a difference for sure.

I have Hogue grips for almost all my 3rd Gens, and Colts. I am from the Pachmayr "Age". (Off went the beautiful, fully functional factory wood grips, on went the rubber.) Still can't remember where all that wonderful, and now valuable wood went.

None of my pistols have the Hogue's on now, but I will keep all of them. I have factory Delrin's on all the S&W's now, and those that had arched and flat profiles, I have both. I really like the arched, but will keep all the flat ones too. I actually do change them around.

The Hogue's are great for wet weather and/or sweaty hands, where as the factory ones can get slippery.

If you are not comfortable with grips on a hand gun it can drastically change your shooting success and accuracy as well as overall comfort and enjoyment.

I got a pair of original S&W grips for my 915 yesterday and put them on to replace the Hogues.

Night and day difference. The S&Ws are SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE. I can't wait to get to the range with them.

To me, consistency is a key element in accurate shooting.

I could not get a good, consistent hold with those Hogues. They were just too wide for my hand. I kept shifting my two handed grip looking for a comfortable hold. I never found one.

The S&Ws feel so much better. I gotta get to the range to try them out.

Anybody want to buy some Hogues, cheap?

did you get the curved or the straight back strap oem grips? I find the curved more to my liking. interesting how they had this interchangeable option from 30 years ago!!!
