3rd Generation Small CCW Autos....Please List Them....
Hey all,
I really liked the 3rd Generation S&W Autos, especially the smaller, concealable 9mm and 45acp models. Now that I am waiting on my CCW to get here I have been thinking about picking up something new, kind of a present to myself. I'd like to have something that is a bit different, that not everyone is carrying. Besides, they are great handling autos that carry very well.
My problem is that I can't remember any of the model numbers. I'd be grateful if you guys and gals would fill in the blanks in my mind on these models including the TSW pistols. I'm interested in the 9mm and a couple of the small 45acp pistols. Also if you know about other smaller 9mm pistols that are pre or post 3rd Generation, please list those too.
I apologize for asking you all to list all these models. I don't know any place else that knows as much as you guys and gals do.
Thank you kindly for your help and advice. I really appreciate it.
Have a great weekend!
Larry

I settled on a 6904 for my summer carry, and a 4516 when winter arrives, although I sometimes switch it around. I had a 3913 NL and a 4040PD for a while, but the 12 rounds of the 6904/6906 won me over.

For pocket carry, a CS series, particularly a CS9 would be good. the 39xx compacts are good for concealed carry IWB or even OWB.
I've carried some of my 39xx compacts in Texas during the summer and they aren't bad to carry.
If you want a good compact .45, then the 457 is likely your best bet.

3rd Gen small ccw autos
Hi Larry:
Aside from the S&W autos, I would recommend the Springfield XDE 9MM as one to consider. I traded my Springfield XD 40, which I owned for 8 years and it is a very well built gun from a Gunsmith's observation. The XD performed flawlessly and since I am a fan of exposed hammer guns, I selected the XDE. As a matter of fact, it made the Bulls eye top tactical gun in the NRA selection of semi-auto pistols. It is light and the racking the slide is very easy to charge a round. The barrel 3.3 inches and you can carry the gun in any mode, single, double and cocked with the safety on similar to the 1911. I am a believer of carry options and I practice with the safety on and disconnect when drawing from the holster. There is a magazine disconnect when the mag is withdrawn from the gun which I am not in favor of a mag disconnect. I know you would be very pleased when you try it out at one of the Gun ranges for performance and ease of shooting.
Nick
