Really wanted a SFF MKII, settled for a Recon
My chance of finding a Shorty 45 MKII, AND being able to afford it is zero. I've been looking for some time.
This 45 Recon was being auctioned, and I watched it, then finally put in one bid. I think there were several reasons why people backed off, but I didn't have a problem with it. No box/case, no papers, LTS adjustable rear sight, not NIB.
It came with a "lifetime" of new springs, new firing pin, original like new rear sight, and six PC marked magazines. I am trying the Delrin's on it, but have the factory Hogues. I'm actually kinda appreciating it now. I think I'll always be able to sell it for the $853.88 I got it for.

So sorry you had to settle for an awesome deal on a 45 Recon.
Seriously though, that's a great deal on a nice-looking gun. I haven't gone the PC route with my S&W's yet, but the 45 Recon has always been tempting...

Hard to imagine an auction where a 45 Recon, even without the box etc., and especially with the other extras you got, would sell for less than a grand at least. I'm glad you found one that did -- an excellent buy indeed!

Yep, thanks.
What I meant was I really DO NOT like "billboard" marked pistols.
Even my pre-rail 4513TSW kinda bugs me, and it took quite some time to find my pre-billboard MPC 845. (That one I also got at a very good price, but with box and all.)
You have to admit, the Recon is a strange pistol, not like the beautiful looks and lines of the Shorty 45's.

One digit higher on the serial number and it would have been perfect.

Fantastic purchase at that price, no question.
If I have to find something BAD to say about the true S&W PC pistols, I know exactly what to say and how to capture the absolute truth as I see and feel it:
Worst thing about true S&W PC guns is that absolutely every single one of them has the ability to make you think a little less about all the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen pistols ever made, except the Model 52.
And I'm NOT trying to be mean or degrading, I own, shoot (and LOVE) more 1-2-3rd Gens than most normal people. Just saying that if you haven't handled, own and shot some of these absolute gems, you truly have no idea what you are missing.
I wandered blindly through life, totally unaware of true PC pistols until about 6 years ago. Discovering them absolutely changed the focus of my love for handguns and defined what moves me when it comes to firearms.
(Note: I use the term "true PC" to give hint to the fact that it is completely ludicrous that S&W uses this term today, slapped on Bodyguard pistols, Shields and other chump tupperware. The real Performance Center today is no more alive than Elvis. The legend lives on in the many examples we can find such as this Recon, but anyone who refers to the PC as something that still exists is grossly uninformed. The Performance Center is history, it was lightning in a bottle and it does not exist today.)

I don’t believe this they still make PC models, granted the older experts are long since gone but they have replaced sites and done tune ups on my pc models

I'm not sure what distinguishes today's Performance Center from the "true PC", but I've got some recent PC's that I'll put against anything from the "true PC" in both function and quality.

I would like to add a side note.
Due to me even starting this original post, (and whining,) a fellow Forum Member has made an offer to sell an excellent SFF MKII, complete, to ME. Of course funds are headed his way all ready.
